Anyone here using progesterone cream? My doc wants me to use it for part of my cycle. I've been doing a lot of reading on low progesterone levels, and it's all very interesting. I've talked to about 6 women who use it, and they are really happy with the changes they've experienced.
comments, anyone?

Yep, I've been using it for a few months now. I skipped this month due to a longish bike tour and not wanting to carry it along, and noticed that my breasts got realllllly sore again before my period. The main plus for me is avoiding that intense soreness, which is why I started using it to begin with. I learned about natural progesterone cream in the book What Your Doctor Won't Tell You About Perimenopause. (I hope that's right - I can't check at the moment.) I'm 43 and not having many peri-symptoms yet; I know there are supposed to be more benefits the more symptoms you have.
The only downside I've experienced is a tiny bit of weight gain and increased hunger; of course, that could also be from upping my mileage on the bike. Somehow I always seem to eat more than enough to compensate for calories burned!

the book is.... Premenopause, by Dr. John Lee. I listened to some tapes by him, and then got the premenopause book out of the library. I'm intrested in the progesterone for it's effect on fibroids and evening out the PMS roller coaster, but it seems like there are a lot of other benefits too.

Yes, I particularly liked the parts in his book where he discusses how it may well be protective against breast cancer. I don't have much PMS at all (other than the sore breasts), but my grandmother had breast cancer, so that was one of the main reasons I started using it.

There's a saliva test that you can take to determine your individual need for not only that but DHEA, and several other female specific hormones...company is in Calif.
