I posted about my new bike here and got zero responses: http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=17635

Maybe I need to post a photo? Well, here are the links to the bike and upgraded stuff:

http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=21963 (paid a heck of a lot less than the listed price)

http://www.bicycling.com/article/1,6610,s1-1-8-15840-1,00.html

http://mclaincycle.com/itemdetails.cfm?catalogId=39&id=917 (except mine are blue and I paid less than $100)

Posted about my fundraising effort here and asked for feedback here: http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=17201
Got zero responses. Doesn’t anyone have feedback/suggestions?

Anyway, just having a little pity party over here. Feel free to ignore as usual . . . .

Anyone want to see my Italy cycling photos? PM me . . .

nothing like killing your own thread, eh? I do it all the time so I feel your pain. My posts (on other boards) are ignored so often that I finally just quit posting.

Feel free to ignore this ;)

Well, we can't have you feeling ignored when you made such a special purchase and especially when you posted with such enthusiasm ! Congratulations. No need for pictures here - I also have a Ruby and know exactly what you have. I also remember the feeling of riding on my well-fitted new carbon bike. You do feel like you can fly with alot more comfort. I also had a heavier steel sort of ill-fitted bike that seemed more of a struggle. Many happy trails to you, and it sounds like you're gearing up already and raring to put in those miles.

I would love to see your Italy photos. I think you should just post a few and we all can see them.

Feel free to ignore as usual
I got a kick outa this

I'd also like to extend my congrats on the new bike. I also think you should post Italy pics! I'd love to see them and just dream...sigh.

Just like a newspaper, use the headline to grab attention. If you want feedback, say so in the headline. More people are apt to read and respond to that.

Why don't you put your fundraising website as part of your signature? I don't always read all threads, but I do tend to click on a link if it's a signature from an established member.

Thanks so much for all the nice replies. Sorry for being such a whiney-butt . . .

I haven't been able to post my photos here as they are too large (too high of resolution, I guess). I'm pretty much technologically ignorant, so if you could give me some "Advice for Dummies"-style advice on how to get the photos on here I'd love to hear it!

Thanks again. And, uforgot, here's my new signature:

Michelem, you are so not a whiney-butt

We have a TE FAQ thread somewhere ..... oh, here :)

*sorry it says "highlight spam" that was how I remembered we had one, discussion of how to flag a thread as spam.

Feel free to add any tips folks.

Congrats on the new bike! Fun, isn't it! :p

For me I think it was the title, I only read maybe 10% of the posts, and anything with a placename in it (i.e. a post dealing with someplace a million miles from here) I automatically skip.

Congrats on your new bike Michelem. I try to respond to every single post about a new bike because I DO know what it feels like. But sometimes there are a lot of posts at the same time and others fall down low to where they can not be seen.

HOWEVER; there you are. a new bike and you are putting the miles on it!

It DOES help to post a photo, maybe of YOU on your own new bike. That's more fun than going to the company website.

Start a thread about your Italy trip with pictures. I definitely want to see them!

Okay, so I read through the thread and learned a lot about grammar! :p

Also read this,

** What Is Copyright Infringement?
"Creative works" such as text, photos, and drawings are automatically protected by Copyright at the time of their creation. Unless the author/photographer/artist explicitly grants permission to reproduce the work, you most likely do not have the right to cut-n-paste the work into the forums.

*** What is Direct/Hot-Linking?
Direct Linking occurs when you "pull" a photo directly from a different website for embedded display in your post. If you do this without permission from the site on which the photo is hosted, you are in effect stealing bandwidth from them.

However, if you are hosting your photos on a photo sharing site, that site probably allows you to hot-link your own photos. Check your host's Terms Of Use Agreement if you are unsure.

So, does that mean it was wrong of me to post the links to Specialized and such to show what my bike and accessories look like?

I do have my Italy photos on www.kodakgallery.com, but just don't feel comfie giving the whole world permission to see them. So far, I am just sending invites to people who request to see them, or to people I know (like friends and relative), but they have to put in a login and password to view. Probably just me being paranoid, but ya never know!

I would love to post a photo of me with my bike, or me and DH in our bike getups in Italy, but as I said the resolution of my photos are too high so I can't post them here! If someone could walk me through how to manipulate the resolution so they fit (there is a resolution size limit 800 x 800 here on the TE forums, and mine are more like 2800 x 2100), please let me know!

Thanks for the tips, and also for the continued well-wishes. :)

(Sorry, I was going to walk you through the way to do it in Microsofts Photo Editor, but turns out we don't even have it installed on this computer. Therefore generic tips :)

try and find out if you have some kind of photo editing program on your computer. Start it, and try opening one of your photos from inside. Then look over the program menus and see if you have an option called "resize".

If you have an option of resizing in cms, inches or pixels, choose pixels. Then type in the size you want, typically you only type in one and the other one changes automatically, to keep the height/width ratio the same.

Then save it under another name!
(If you see something called compression ratio turn it up to max. Jpg-format can be heavily compressed but the quality decreases.)

lph,

Thanks for the instructions. Donna sent me some as well and I am going to play around over the weekend as my photos are saved to my home computer desktop. Thanks again! :)

there's a program called Irfanview which is real easy to use for resizing pics. Go to www.irfanview.com and download it. Oh yeah, it's free. And it's very simple to use.

I wanna see your pictures too!

I second the suggestion to use irfanview. Fantastic free program!

It's very straight forward, but if you'd like more info, PM me.

Oi, stop being a whiney-butt..................... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y272/Missbe/nutkick.gif hehehe!

Only kidding, I fully understand, I go on a couple of other forums and have a habit of killing a thread, or my post gets ignored............probably 'cos mine are a load of crap!

Anyway, if you have a Paypal account, I would love to donate $10 towards your run against pancreatic cancer, so PM if you have.

Sally

PS Using www.photobucket.com is real easy to put pics on here, if you want anymore info, just PM me.

Hey MicheleM, I appreciate that you are willing to ask for what you need...ie, posting another thread to ask for support if the first thread doesn't get the response you need. I don't consider that being a whiney-butt!!

Have many happy miles on your awesome new bike, and wow, what amazing pics from Italy. A dream!!

Sally,

Thanks SO MUCH for your donation. I do hope you are feeling better.

Starfish,

I'm working on asking for what I need - thanks for the encouragement. :o And, I have to look at my photos now and then to remind myself that our trip wasn't a dream! :)
