Well, I have to admit that I have not been riding much this year. Mostly, I've been dedicating my time to tennis, but once I got back from Germany, I had the jones to ride my bike again, so I've been out a few times on the mountain bike since the trails are perfect right now (we've had rain and it is really nice and tacky out there!)

Anyway, the first couple of rides were okay, but not great. It takes me a while to get back into the technical swing of things on a mountain bike!

But, last night, IT WAS GREAT! Had a really nice ride with some friends and the downhilling was just amazing. With the traction as great as it is, I was bombing down the hill, fast over the rocks, into the corners, etc. It was like my bike was floating! OH, I love that feeling when everything comes together just right!:D :D :D YAHOO

Yipee!:p I love those moments when everything comes together!Your post also offers me some inspiration, I've also been off my mountain bike most of the summer (prepping for a long backpacking trip in Slovenia), but now that I'm back I went on a few rides and have just been so discouraged with my bike fitness and getting back into the technical riding I love. So looking forward to the sweet ride! Thanks for the reminder that it can happen!:D

Yep Tulip, those sweet ride moments will come again!

I did go for about a 5 hour ride on the mountain (1/2 of which was probably walking with the bike) on Sunday. Wow, it was a great ride, hike! But, my bike skills weren't quite as honed as on Wednesday. I finished the ride in the dirt on the same lovely hill I came down on Wednesday night. Not as GOOD:rolleyes:

I was going a lot slower and tried the same lines I took when I was going faster. Wow, they don't work the same at all at slower speeds!:D

It's so nice when you have those rides that make you fall in love with the dirt all over again! Glad you had such a great ride- they sure do make it all worth it!!!!

I usually don't ride in the spring/summer because it's too buggy and spider-y. DH talked me into it last Monday and it was fun, BUT I fell once (normal) and into poison ivy (NOT normal). Been itching ever since. I also notice that when I'm not on my bike for a while (it'd been about 4 months) I get soooo scardy-cat and timid. I can't wait for winter to hit the trails regularly and have the same experience you did the other night! :)

Yes! It's good when you fall in love all over again. Not going to threadcap but I had a glorious weekend as well. Did my first 6 hour and couldn't stop jabbering about it all night. Even closed my eyes to sleep and was STILL riding!
