I have been waiting to see the line pop up on the Team CSC website that Dave Z renewed his contract. But, it didn't come and it didn't come. Looks like the reason is that the Z-man has been picked up by Slipstream/Chipotle along with Christian Vande Velde and David Millar!

Awesome, Slipstream is gonna be a fun one to watch. I could see Disco and SS duking it out for the "best [now] clean riders" label...
but, I heard Disco was not renewing from my husband, and is there anyone lined up to pick up the team?

Yeah, I heard Discovery weren't going to have a team next year, but might they not rethink that after first and third in this year's tour?

Apparently, Discovery channel is pulling sponsorship at the end of the season. Johan has approached several companies about sponsorship and has not found a new sponsor yet. With two men in the top 3 at the Tour, you'd think it wouldn't be so tough, but with a Tour where so many guys were pulled for doping, a lot of companies are not so interested in cycling teams! :( I hope they pull it off.

wow, what a team to watch for! Can't wait! It's funny b/c one of the guys I ride with just got his slipstream kit that he ordered. He is by no means, no David Millar in it:p

Have any of you noticed their shoes?? They have teeny tiny argyle on the shoes, too!
Jonathan Vaughters said the argyle will be bolder if they get a Tour bid next year. Wonder what color it will be then?

I've been out of the loop for a few days, but I've been following this rumor for a couple of weeks. Is it official? Does anyone have a link to the announcement?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Team Slipstream (Powered by Chipotle) is the team to watch! And on that note, I think I'm gonna have me a Chipotle burrito for lunch today. Gotta support those team sponsors!

It is official. If you look at cycling news (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2007/jul07/jul31news2), you'll see that it has been officially announced. And, Christian V explains in his final Tour diary (http://www.velonews.com/diaries/rider/articles/13025.0.html)on Velonews that he told the team after the tour ended that he was moving to Slipstream. What a team to watch is right! Can't wait to see the CSC boys go blue and orange! :)

Perhaps we should start getting our stakes ready? You know...stakes for burning witches... (sorry for the dripping sarcasm here...not directed at you PinkBike, just at the situation in general!)
I prefer to be naive and, until they're caught in the act, presume that they are innocent, instead of the way that this whole thing has been going (those postings on Cycling News are so full of assumptions and generalizations, it's silly). It's a shame that so many of these guys are dopers (the Aaron's team mechanic proudly wore his "Dopers Suck" T-shirt at the Tour de Toona over the weekend), but then again elite athletes are elite for a reason...they have the best training, the best equipment, and access to the best cheating money can buy.

Heeeeyyyy, don't be raining on Dave Z's parade here!! ;)
I just hope Tenacious Z gets that knee problem sorted out. Hopefully, Slipstream will let him use his custom-made shoes (with argyle covers, of course).

I will be watching slipstream with much excitement. I heard rumors about George Hincapie going to there too.
As for Discovery, I heard a rumor that Hewlett Packert/Oracle will be the main sponsors next year. We'll see. I can imagine many sponsors pulling out since it costs upward about 10 million to run a team and that is a lot of money to be spending when looking at doping scandals.

They also said they signed (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2007/jul07/jul31news2)a recent winner of the Paris-Roubaix but haven't released the name. Anyone want to bet who it is? Looks like O'Grady and Cancellara have contracts with CSC through 2008. I don't think Boonen would leave a Belgian team.

Rumor has it to be Magnus Backstedt from Liqiugas. The only other active P-R winner is Peter Van Petegem (I think he's with Quikstep)

Interesting. All the rumors I've seen about Hincapie indicate that he may go to T-Mobile. Personally, I think that'd be a big mistake on George's part, what with all their issues this year.

Good grief, KD - you are seriously plugged into the rumor mill!!!
You must have reported on a half dozen "rumors" in this thread alone!
BTW - isn't T-Mobile also pullling their title sponorship??

Bah. So I was a little addicted to cycling news during the Tour... That's acceptable isn't it? ;)
And I only mentioned following two rumors in this thread. And, come to think of it, I think I read them both in the same article a week or so ago. So there

Here is a quote from Velonews for all you argyle fans:
And yes, the team will return in its argyle kits in 2008 - a design Vaughters takes full responsibility for.
"My sister has a great saying about the argyle kits," Millar said. "‘Fantastic concept, horrific realization.'

That is a nice bike.
I guess we will have to wait until Sept 1 to find out the truth. That is when the riders can announce a change in contract.

Seems no one is really waiting until Sept 1 to discuss it. From DZ's own mouth: deseretnews.com- Zabriskie leaving CSC for Slipstream Sports squad (http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,695196767,00.html).
Dave Zabriskie rode into the 2007 Tour de France knowing he was a soon-to-be free agent in the world of professional cycling. He also knew his sport was facing a crisis because of repeated scandals over doping and cheating.
The Salt Lake City cyclist appears to have addressed both of those professional concerns by agreeing to a two-year contract with Slipstream Sports. He'll join his new team after the conclusion of the current racing season.
"Some people are trying to tell me it's a step down," Zabriskie, who has returned to Salt Lake City to rehab an injured left knee, told the Deseret Morning News on Tuesday. "But I think it's a step in the right direction."
The article also includes an update on DZ seeking treatment for his knee problems. Links to more: Slipstream Sports- In the news (http://www.slipstreamsports.com/news.news.php).
Next year, I may just become a Chipotle-eatin', argyle-wearin' fool :D (No smart comments, Regina...)

This the first year that I've actually watched part of the Tour, so most of you what you're saying is above my head. But, my ears perked up when I heard Chipotle! I LOVE Chipotle and will definitely support any team with their name on it. :D
Maybe by this time next year, I'll actually be able to follow most Tour conversations.
