Does anyone know if rowers wear underwear under their rowing shorts? I like rowing shorts instead of bike shorts to ride a recumbent, but I'm concerned that in the sun they may be revealing something I don't see indoors when I put them on!
I'd also like to know if I can swim in rowing shorts like tri-shorts, or if they get translucent when wet - anybody know?

What type of rowing shorts are you wearing?

I have the concept2 shorts and wear them only to row. I never wear underwear w/them--they are made to wear w/out undies.

I have a couple of dif brands, but I like the concept2 the best - like your answer, too!:D

I always wear normal cotton underwear under my shorts/onepiece for rowing. I think that most of the men's crew go commando though. I know they did at university because they hid our shoes while we were training one day. The next day they came back from a training session to find their underwear flying from the boathouse flagpole (yes, childish but satisfying).

As for swimming in your rowing shorts - mine are always fine.

I decided to start back rowing again in order to get in some crosstraining & strengthen my core. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it "way back when." Before I got into biking, I was really dedicated about my rowing---I got in enough miles to be a member of the Million Meter Club! :D

Maybe some of us could do the Concept2 Holiday challenge later this year? Row ----meters between T'giving & Xmas.

Actually, I'm thinking about taking a sculling class, as to date, I've been just a dry land rower (concept2 is my boat! Lol).
