We found it yesterday (if you consider 80 degrees cool).

With a need to escape the heat of the Salt Lake and Utah valleys, sulis, AuntieK, friend of Auntie K (we’ll call her “elbow gash”), and yours truly decided to ride up in the mountains east of Park City. What a great day! Elbow gash found a group of kitted out racer boys to hang with on the descent and hammered with them for probably about 5 miles. The rest of us opted not to join in the hammerfest. That elbow gash gal is impressive!

This has to be one of my top 3 rides in Utah (so far). The route we did starts at about 6500’ and summits at just above 9400’. The climb is about 22 miles long. There was some weekend funseeker traffic but it wasn’t too awful, and it is just so beautiful up there it’s hard to be negative about anything! Anyway, here are some shots from the day. I’ll let AK and sulis add their tidbits to the report.

This is such a great shot of sulis!

And finally, here we are at the summit (elbow gash, yellow, and AuntieK)!

Bwhahaha! Elbow Gash! LOL! She does have some pretty impressive strips of bacon on her elbow.

It was fun (I can say that now that it's over!) climbing to the top of the world with Yellow, Sulis and "Elbow Gash" yesterday. Boy, that Yellow sure can climb! She IS a mountain goat! She got to the top way ahead of the rest of us. I think she was beginning to wonder if we'd all decided to go home without reaching the summit.

It was a beautiful ride. One of my favorite parts was stopping at an old-fashioned soda shop on the way back to town. I was so tempted to get a malt! I deserved it after that climb! But I didn't figure it would work well in my bottle, so I went for the Gatorade instead.

Thanks, Yellow, for all the fabulous photos!

Saturday was such a beautiful ride! Thanks for setting it up Yellow.
Cooler temperatures, gorgeous scenery, great company and a fabulously challenging ride - couldn't ask for more from a Saturday ride.
I was the hill slug in the group. So a huge thanks to Yellow, AuntieK and "Elbow Gash" for being so patient and encouraging as I brought up the rear. At least I had a lot of lovely things to look at as I slogged up the hills. :p I want to ride it again!!!

And I agree with AuntieK. Yellow you are such an amazing rider - and amazingly modest about it. You make climbing look easy. :)

That AV jersey looks so much better on someone.

I haven't ordered one because I want it to look that good on me, too. Maybe next year.

It's simply the magic of the AV jersey! :D
You should get one. It's a favorite. I get compliments on mine all the time.

I'm in the same place. And as much as I'm sure I'm going to keep losing weight, I feel foolish buying one that's too small on the assumption I'll fit into it later. Grrrr.
