I guess I get to be the first one to get this going. Even though my Secret Sister had to send me her package all the way from Japan she still beat out everyone else.
It was really fun to get some books from a country that I've never been to, but would definitely like to get to visit one day. I'm looking forward to reading them. I think I'll be putting out the hammock in the yard this weekend and starting one of them already.
My coworkers are anxiously awaiting my first experiment with Japanese cooking.
Thanks alot to my not-so-Secret Sister (mountainchick)

You're welcome! Glad you liked the books! :)
I knew if I didn't send them out I wouldn't remember. I liked that cookbook for all the pictures, I have a Japanese cookbook myself but it doesn't have near as many pictures as the one I sent you.
Keep me posted on your cooking adventures!

Um,
Did you send the organizer a PM to let her know your address details? I know that for this one, I gave a deadline of June 26th(???) to get your details in so i could organize & send details out.
You're NOT BEING EXCLUDED because you're new

Nicole:
Unfortunately I never received a PM from you for the last SS exchange. I would have gladly included you in the name/gift exchange. For future references if you want to participate you simply have to send your name, address and any other information requested to the person organizing the exchange via private message. They will put your information into the hat. Typically they give a deadline for names to be submitted so that they have time to match people and send out PM's to all participants with their SS name/address. I hope you will participate in future exchanges for they are a lot of fun.
Sorry for any confusion about how the SS exchanges work.
I've got most of what I want to include, just need to find a few yummies to throw in there.
this may seem like a dumb question but I don't care.
This is SECRET sister, so when I send this I'm not supposed to say who it's
from, right?

Zen, it is strictly up to you whether you wish to reveal yourself. Some send clever notes and make their SS figure out/guess who their SS is. Some send no clues and others come right out and share their name.
I've purchased my books and am still looking for something fun to add to the box. I thought I had found the perfect fun bicycle themed gift only to find out it had been discontinued, so bummed. I'm going to continue the search this week - I will not give up, I will not be defeated!

I purchased my last magazine relating to our area last night, so my mags and book is ready. Now to get some other goodies around and my gift will be going to the other side of the states. Vacation is next week so hopefully can get a thing or 2 from there to send. That is what my intentions are..

Thanks to my secret sister (bmccasland) for all the great loot from LA! I can't wait to read the books you sent - the one with the pigs looks like a hoot! Can you tell me the story behind the cups you sent? The artwork on them is great.
Oh, and now I'm ready for Mardi Gras celebrations, too! It was just like Christmas in July to unwrap all the great presents!
To my secret sister - I have one more item to pick up, and then will put my package in the mail. I haven't forgotten you!

SheFly,
Glad you liked the goodes :D
The cups are Mardi Gras "throws" - they don't just throw beads. Each Krewe (private club) has a theme and hosts a parade. The Krewe of Muses is one of two all women Krewes - and they sponsor a contest among high school students for the cup design http://www.kreweofmuses.org (http://www.kreweofmuses.com). Muses parade is one of my favorites. Can't remember the other cup I enclosed, but it would be from another parade during Carnival. Gen-u-wine Mardi Gras goodies from the Big Easy. :p

Sharon,
Thank you so much for the books, coffee, and note cards from Utah. I think if I were to classify states, Utah would be my #2. I was so excited to get the package, and can't wait to start reading. I wish I could express how excited I was to get the package :D And the personalized card was beautiful, how did you make it? On the computer?
Thank you again!!!

Becki,
I am so happy you received your package:) ...I make my cards on the computer. My DH kept telling me about this local author and I finally looked her up. When I read the book, "Refuge", I knew what I was going to send my ss. I hope you enjoy it too. The coffee is from a local coffee shop that roasts their own coffee...Again, I am so glad you got your package...

To my Secret Sister Makbike/Marcie, thank you for the books! Does the bike travel book come with the secret password to book a jet to take us all over - I'll pick you up!!!
Had to put the candy (chocolate?) in the refrigerator to reconstitute, it was a bit mushy. I'm hoping for the GS ThinMint principle, tastes better cold! I'll let you know.
After an all day business meeting, coming home to a surprise package really lifted my day. Thank you! :D

THANK YOU Laura! Your package arrived safe and sound today and brought an immediate smile to my tired face. I'm looking forward to reading the books for I love to laugh. I love the slugs so no apologizes needed. I'm looking forward to enjoying them in class when I teach my unit on food chains. The postcards are beautiful and only make me want to visit your neck of the woods even more. Thanks again!

Mine went out yesterday.
A book of aerial photographs (from a helicopter so some are quite intimate).
My theory was if the pics are from high up and/or close up you can't see the mess the politicians are making of the place!
I have been waiting for the temperature to get a bit lower before I mail mine out. Maybe I should just eat the chocolate and get the package mailed?

A wonderful surprise was at my doorstep all the way from NJ yesterday!! It was like Christmas in August with all the fun stuff in there. I was excited to recieve 2 books. Both look like great reads so I started reading both of them last night. But not to worry, I was able to mark my pages with magnetic book marks! There were some goodies for the road, mini notebooks and coffee in there!
Thank you so much, my SS from NJ!!!!:D :D

My dear SS (SheFly) I finally got the chance to open my package. It came to right address few days ago, but since I was away for couple of weeks I sent my parents address, and when I finally arrived they were on vacation, so I could only stand in front of the window and look your big package through the glass window.
Ah what a pain, what an agony, to know you received something great but not been able to look what it is. :(
But, my patience has payed well (...was that the right expression  ...) ...anyway, thank you for the books, "Water Witches" seems very interesting (and easy to read :D ) and for the other one... well, I just hope I'll visit Boston some day so I could see it with my own eyes, that would be really nice.
Thank you also for all the other things

YAY! So glad to hear that the package arrived safely - I was worried about it. I thought that your English was good enough to send you a novel - it may be a challenge, but you will get through it. And the magnet is from the town in which I live - so glad that you like that as well!
Enjoy the reading!

Jeannie, you should have seen his face last night when he saw it. it was priceless. He saw the pile of gifts on the table and he more or less dismissed it all. ho hum get this stuff out of my way... Then I pulled curious george out from the bottom and he got all goofy eyed. It was really cute.
Thanks again!

Did the package smell like apples when you opened it????
Unfortunately no, but now my whole house does :)
I forgot to ask you about the flower card you've sent me... Did you take a picture of it? It is very nice, both picture and idea of putting your personal card instead of just buying one. I like it very much when people do something on their own, I fell very special than. We don't have such studios/printing houses where you could print just one special card.

I just received my ss package today and I must say it was a real day brightener. Thank you so much, Five One! The books look like they are "right up my alley", and these cookies! I'm speechless! They are too beautiful to eat (although I couldn't resist sampling one already!). Believe it or not, I've been meaning to read The Secret life of Bees. King of the Wind looks like a book I would have loved as a kid--which means I will likely love it now. (Those Newbery people are never wrong!) and I look forward to reading Red Sky at Morning as well. All this and book marks and book plates to boot! I am not worthy.

My Secret Sister was you, Sue!! It was such a welcome surprise and I got it last week! I've only now had a chance to say anything about it. I've started a new project at work that seriously cuts into my time checking out the boards and even sadder, my cycling time. :( I really enjoyed all you sent me!
Book on Milwaukee Now and Then
A paperback from a writer who places a lot of her books in the Wisconsin area
Great book of recipes from local inns
a magnet saying "Where's the bubbler?" - They call water fountains 'bubblers' :D
a couple of postcards and a Milwaukee card
I really enjoyed all the personal notes you put in there like noting the places near where you live and explaining the 'bubbler'. That was really cool! My hubby and I are really into photography and cooking and your gifts definitely fit the bill. AND I'm going to use the box you sent me to send my Secret Sister her gift!!
Secret Sister in Utah who loves birds: I have your gifts and have had them for a while actually. I'm trying to decide how to make the gifts more personal. :D I will definitely try to get it out so that you get it in time for the end of the month.
Thanks again, Sue! Secret Sister is awesome! Can't wait for the next SS go-round!

Sending a big thank you to my great SS from Maryland. I tried to figure out who you are, but there are a lot of TE'ers in that part of the country.
I'm sure the cycling books will come in handy. One can never have enough info. My daughter lived in DC for a couple years, so the book about Washington brought back lovely memories of our visits to your part of the country. I've got a tough ride planned for this Saturday, so I think I will read the Go For It book Friday night and hope it helps ;)! Cycling snacks are always welcome (Clif Bloks are a current fave) and I was needing a new water bottle. Perfect. And then there was chocolate. I will TRY to parcel that out, but will most likely fail. Gotta love Dove :p.
Thank you so much for everything!

I got your package last week, and it's taken me this long to realize what an idiot I am!! I couldn't figure out who you were earlier. Anyway, thank you so much for the book, the Clif treats and the post cards! I've never read that author (if you can believe it), so I'm very excited to potentially find a new favorite. The book itself sounds great!

I just received the most wonderful secret sister package! I've never read that author, but the books really look right up my alley! Love the biking treats, cliff shot and cytomax sport drinks and the GU gels. And then the Tri Flow lubricant, which I have never tried, but wanted to. Perfect! And then there's the chocolate. sigh. Oh, my... we have nothing like that around here. I stopped at the store today and bought ice cream for my son who is coming home this weekend. I haven't bought ice cream in a year, so why today? And then I saw the lovely jar of chocolate sauce in my ss package. Fate? Vibes? I completely broke my diet with absolutely NO guilt! Twice. I ate part of the chocolate bar too.:D

THANK YOU very much and very sorry for the belated posting. It was a very nice surprise at work. It's kinda funny cuz that day our office manager was out sick and I happened to glance over at the mail pile and out of curiosity, I just went thru the mail pile.

I got my SS package yesterday, and it's true, they come when you are most in need of a bit of a pick up. (the chocolate helped :) )
I love the cyclist's map of Maryland, I'm marveling at the tiny distances on the map, and the squiggly borders. Postcards, too. I love 'em.
The small book by an 1890s woman trying to learn to ride a bike is great. DH & I have been enjoying the pictures together. She certainly was a determined woman.
And then, for when I'm done adventuring - bath stuff. Perfect.
So thanks, SS from Maryland. I love the package
And to my SS, be patient. I'm slow, but I do get things done after a while.
sorry I smoked all the cigars :D
That wasn't mere mortal chocolate, that was TESTOSTERTOBLERONE!!!

I enjoyed the Practical Pedal, of course. Just the sort of thing I pick up at the LBS - if they had such a thing, of course.
And the cigar box! You know how, as a parent, you give your kid a Perfect Gift, and the kid goes ga-ga over the box? Yeah, that's me. For some reason, I love cigar boxes.
So yeah, the gift was perfect. Thanks again.

Two books, some very tasty cereal bars, a cute notebook, a seasoning packet, a really cool pen and some homemade bookmarks, one with TE logo and the other of my dogs! There were also some inspirational notes & quotes included in the books and bookmark.:D :D
Perfect timing, as I just finished my current book last night! Now I just have to choose which book to read first. I think I'm going to start with The Little Prince.
What a great package of gifts! Thank you so much, iFKA.

SS, thank you so much! I can definitely use the Shot Bloks and the propel. As a matter of fact, I was/am having a shot blok shortage so it's perfect! And the books? They both look great!!! I'm going on a long plane trip tonight and I am taking one of them (haven't figure out which one yet but I think it'll be the cycling one) with me. But no, it was for ME. I threw my bike inside, well, not really. And rushed to open the box. Thank you so much..I can't wait to read the Taku book..that sounds very interesting. I flipped thru the Seattle book twice so far, it's amazing what time and modernization does to towns. The cherries were scrumptious. I popped one in my mouth and savored it with some coffee. Havent tried the covered pistachios yet. I will have to hide these treats from DH, he'll have them gone in no time. The note was sweet also. THANK YOU SO MUCH..loved everything..

THANK YOU F8TH637. I was busy outside (filling my bird feeders and baths) when my DH came out and told me I just got a VERY HEAVY PACKAGE from FE. WOW, I mean WOW. The Smithsonian BIRDS of NA is one beautiful book. DH said I definitely have my winter reading. I have already looked up my 'gotcha' birds, the chickadee and lesser goldfinch. The lesser has me intrigued these days because this summer I have been enjoying so many of the 'little guys' at my nyger bags. I am really looking forward to reading "Metal Cowboy" and may take it with me on my trip to Wyoming this weekend. I really should read 'birding basics' because I know very little about birds, I am really a classic 'backyard' birder. And Lance, I will save that for a day where I can pop a dvd in and enjoy. Thank you again. Your note was very personal and thank you again for taking the time to write it.

You are so very welcome, sbctwin! I was a little worried that you might have so many birding books but to hear that you are a 'backyard' birder really puts me at ease and I hope that I gave you some books that will help you become a 'serious' birder. We have a lot of those chickadees and goldfinches in the area and especially in my neighborhood because many people have bird feeders outside. I have some pictures I took of the birds that I wanted to send you but I wanted to get it to you by the end of the month. I really hope you enjoy "Metal Cowboy" as I have. I'm so glad to hear that all my gifts were well-received and right on time. Enjoy!

While my SS came out and said who she was, I actually hadn't read the PM by the time I got my package because I've been so swamped at work, so it was still a surprise! ;) I read it afterwards and slapped my forehead. Duh!
Thank you so much, Tri Girl, you're great. You managed to find a brand and flavor of gels I have yet to taste.

To my SS,
I can't figure out who you are!!! Sorry about the belated posting, I hadn't mailed mine out yet and I wanted to wait to open what you sent until I sent my package out. Guilt...so to the recipient of mine, it is going next day and will be there tomorrow!!
It looks funny and I need the motivation right around now :D
Thank you again, whoever you are!
p.s. I love mysteries also, that was an excellent choice!
Hi Teigyr - I'm pretty sure I'm your SS! I wasn't sure who you were on TE as my SS PM only gave your real name and not your TE name! I'm sorry I was so late in getting it to you. I have no excuse as it sat in the box on my counter for much longer than it should have! :o I'm glad you liked it and I hope you enjoy the books. :)

Thanks! And BOY do I know how long boxes sit out at my house. I was busy trying to remove cat hair from the box I sent to my SS. I read the first book, Heft on Wheels, while on a trip to Syracuse. It was great and I had it finished by the time I got home :D The next one is for vacation, next week.
Thank you again SO much and now I can thank you in person, as it is.

Thank you so much UK Elephant!! I love the cookbook and have already eyed some desserts to make. I really only like to bake. I plan to read the other book on a long road trip we are taking soon, looks like a fun one.
Umm.... My package isn't complete. I got part of it but have been swamped at work and haven't gotten all I want in it. :o

Cindy revealed herself to me and I want to publicly thank her for all her efforts in sending me a SS package. Unfortunately, it has never arrived.:(
With any luck the person who did receive it needed it more than I.
Cindy, again, thank you! Don't let this stop you from participating again. It's fun! :)

Cindyloo, THANK YOU so much for my package. I wish it could talk because I would love to know where it has been since the August 28 postmark (it's not THAT far from Atlanta to here  )
Here is what transpired this week:
I went to visit my mom last Friday (Sept. 14) and on that day a notice was put in my mailbox that there was a package at the P.O. (15 miles away). The only time the carrier should put a notice in a mailbox is when 1. the package is too big for the box, or 2. the receiver has to sign for it. Neither was the case with your package.
I returned on Wednesday (Sept.19) at at 5:45 p.m. and when I picked up my mail, I found the notice. It said the package would be returned to the sender on Sept. 19 if it had not been picked up by that time. I called the P.O. and talked to a lady there who said she couldn't help me and to call back the following morning (yesterday).
Yesterday I again called the P.O. and spoke to the Postmaster. He asked for the parcel number off the notice and said that only Express Mail is returned after 5 days. There was no parcel number and the carrier didn't even put the sender's name on the slip so I had no way of knowing who it was from. The Postmaster was upset because the carrier did not fill the slip out correctly and there was no way of knowing what happened to the package.
Mysteriously, when I got home yesterday, the package was in my mailbox!!! I have a suspicion the carrier had a talking-to by the Postmaster & somehow magically found my package.
So....again, thank you Cindyloo for the goodies! I am going to put The Quotable Cyclist to use this morning, and I can't wait to read Bicycle Love!! As for the Sudoku......uh.....I am so numerically challenged that I hope I can finish at least one of the easy ones.  I'll let you know!
I am going to hang my little "play everyday" sign in my Element to remind me of the important things in life. I haven't been playing much lately so I hope it will help get me back on the right track.
Thanks for being my SS, Cindyloo! :D

Well thank goodness! I was quite frustrated that you hadn't received the package! Since I was mailing it later in Aug. I even sent it priority mail!!! Oh well, people make mistakes.
Your welcome! Sudoku isn't for everybody but it can be fun. I still have to look at the answers sometimes!

I sent my package off last Friday- after it sat in on my table for two weeks waiting for me to get off on time to make it to the post office  . By now I think it should have made it to the recipient. Hopefully no post office gremlins are working overtime. It has been a very bad week and I don't need that!
