It's July 19th, right Fredwina?!!! :D
So, I just got back from my fastest ride ever. I did my somewhat short "speed" ride. 12 miles, 412 feet of elevation (not huge, but signifcant enough!). My previous three rides were an average of 15.5 pace. This one was 15.9. SO close to 16.0! Aughhhhh!!!!
Oh well. Next time! :) I'm still completely thrilled with my progress. I worked it hard.

I rode at lunch today. It was pretty funny because I went out to my car and was getting set up when a couple of the new riders I've taken out on a few training rides came out. I could tell that they were thinking that I'd ride with them, but I'd already had my own training plans. I basically headed out and yelled to them to have a great ride.
So I went and searched out the hills. Every hill I came to, I rode twice. Some hills were not on my route, but I rode to them and repeated them anyway. :) Ended up with 17 miles, 850 ft of climbing (thought this would have been higher) and an average of 17.1 mph.
On the way back, I ran into the same two guys and they asked what I was doing. Apparently they'd seen me out there but couldn't figure out what route I was riding! I explained that while I was also leading a ride after work, I chose to ride at lunch by myself to get in some climbing. I still don't think they quite grasped why anyone would *choose* to ride hills! :p

How long did a 17 mile "lunch ride" take you? Just curious. :) Your ride sounds impressive. You go girl!

My 5:30 pm ride yesterday was awesome. I ate more at lunch and throughout the day as recommended to me by members of this board. This was the intermediate group ride...the ride that I usually can't keep up with and just split off before they drop the hammer. Well, instead of splitting off I stayed with them. There is this one fairly long stretch of road where they really get with it. As soon as they hit this road they jumped. I was caught unaware and lost the wheel in front of me. One of the guys behind me passed and yelled at me to catch his wheel or I wouldn't make it. So I jumped up and caught up to him and stayed on his wheel. There were about 4 people behind me that didn't make it. I was the last one in the pace line. I had to work hard to stay on his wheel and every time I looked at my speedometer we were going 24 mph! I was so glad when we reached the end of that road and made a left to turn uphill. Even though I was tired I managed to make it up the hill with the group. I finished the ride of 30 miles with an average speed of 17.3. I was so happy after this ride. It was so cool to be going that fast and I have to say I was pretty proud of myself for hanging with them. A good day.:)

An hour ride time. Time to change before and after and a quick shower...I'm back to my desk working in about a hour and 45 minutes. (I love my flexible schedule!) When I ride with other people, we can do it faster...but they rarely want to do hill repeats with me. :p
Oh, and thanks!
