I'm discovering that there's nothing like switching from an oil-based lube to White Lightning to bring out the compulsive tendencies in a person. Have you ever tried to get all of the oil out of anything, much less something with lots of parts? I noticed that there was still some old lube on the inside of the chain links, so after my afternoon ride I found myself cleaning them out with a tootpick (a brush being insufficient for the task), and I have a recumbent, so the chain is really long. I laughed at the twistedness of it, but I have a pretty clean chain now. :)

Oh my, cleaning a recumbent chain with a toothpick?
Please tell me it was worth it, but don't tell my bike. He will want similar treatment!

Ha,ha! That was pretty funny, now I don't feel so bad about tearing the towels into little strips before twisting them into a form that I can use to "floss" in between each of my chain links!
You've gotta love this board, it makes one feel "normal" after all. :D

Hee. :o Another chain fanatic checking in!
I changed from oil to Rock N Roll last year and have become evangelical about a clean and shiny chain ever since! In fact, so much so, that the very sight of a gloopy sticky gunked chain makes me twitch uncontrollably! :)
Toothpicks, cotton buds/tips, little strips of cloth - use 'em all.
I really should get out more!
But there's nothing more satisfying and cathartic than a shiny, gleaming drivetrain.
