Does anybody here have experience with the p.c. version of fitday (which costs $29) compared with the free version online. Do you think its worth the cost. Fitday's advertising says the pc version is much quicker for entering foods - is that the case. Because a lot of the brand names and even the terms for some foods are different here (just as one example light beer here is low alcohol not specifically low calorie), I need to enter custom foods quite a lot.
thanks for any input
My only online food diary experience comes from http://mypyramid.gov/
With so many free food diary options I wouldn't pay for anything but that's me.
If you have the nutritional data for an item you could find a similar item and use that as a substitute.

Yes, the PC version is totally worth it!! I bought it about 5 years ago (I think it was only 19.99 then ;)) and I love it. It's much quicker than the online version and if you use a lot of custom foods...it's so much easier.
I'm sure the new version has even more upgrades since I bought it, but the three things I like best about the version I have are:
1) you can create recipes - you select multiple ingredients and save them as a recipe. Then when you go to use it in your plan, you just recall it and put in the amount you ate.
2) you can drag and drop meals or foods from previous days so that if you eat the same breakfast a few days in a row, you don't have to 'build' it all the time.
3) It can be loaded and reloaded on multiple computers. I don't know if this is still the same, but I have a CD. I've gone through 3 computers since I bought it and all I have to do is transfer my data file and reload the program from the CD...and all my history is still there.
Hope this helps!

Thanks - I've decided to take the plunge and get the pc version - if I order it torugh my online account I can get a download version (not the CDs) for $19.99.
I really need to get disciplined about my food to drop the 5 kg I've put on over the past three months
