Wow, thanks you guys! And Snap for starting the thread (gawsh, you're awesome!)
Had my morning ride with the guys, then came home, relaxed a wee bit, showered, and then the family took me out to dinner in Pacific Grove on the coast to my favorite restaurant (Vito's Italian). Yes, it's worth the drive! The food there is primo and the service/employees are just as fantastic. It's always a treat to go. After dinner, we watched the sun set down at the beach and then home we went. The kids were all knocked out by the time we got there. So was I! My DH had to stop for coffee to get us safely home.
Aren't those out-of-town trips the best? The kind where you come home exhausted and happy? It was an awesome day -- thanks you guys, for your b-day wishes! :) :D

YES! Still not sure if I'm actually racing (...but probably will, stubborn me...) because of my nagging back injury (...which would get better if I wouldn't ride, but that's not going to happen...), but we're planning to come up whether I race or not. Alot of the guys I ride with are racing, including Charlotte, who has now upgraded to Cat 2 and is still racking up points! Also, my husband has a brother that lives in/around Vacaville. We're thinking of making a long day of it -- racing, visiting, and finding a fireworks show to go to, and then possibly staying the night. But, we still have to set all that up (if my DH would get on the ball.... ).
My race will be at 9:40........Peet's to follow! :D
Do you know any good fireworks shows up there? We saw that Arco Arena will have a big show, but haven't had a chance to look up any more.
Thanks you guys!

After seeing fireworks paid for by Demi and Bruce (yes that Demi and Bruce) at Stanley, Idaho's 150th anniversary I've kind of sworn off fireworks. The firepower of a display funded by thpse two and lighting up the entire Stanley Basin with no other city lights around spoils you for all future shows. The Davis Aggie lists the Cal Expo Show (free but parking is $7 and reserved seating is $10). But the town of Davis has the usual free concerts, a skydiving exhibition, taiko drums, and fireworks. Ooh, don't forget the mayor's speech.:p
Are your kids too old/young for the kids crit (http://dbcraceteam.org/Events-results/2007/4-july-crit.html) at noon. Actually, I can't believe you have kids at all since you look about 18.:)
Okey-dokey, going to have to rework our ride plans for the day. We weren't planning on being at the race until 12 for Junior Racer Boy. Forecast is for 104 so be happy you have an early race.

Great! Thanks SK -- sure gives us some options!
Soooo glad I have an early race. There's something to be said for staying a Cat 4. :D My kids are old enough for the kids races, but the problem is getting their bikes there! I haven't ever been able to cram them all in the van at the same time. But, as I'm going up earlier in a separate car (my little Hyundai), I might put one in the back seat. I highly doubt my roof rack will accommodate any of their bikes (more reason to encourage my oldest son to get a youth road bike instead of another bmx-style...I'm working on him).
I keep telling people that I'm really 24 this year. Then, next year I'll be 23....22....etc. Once I get to zero, it goes back up....so when I turn 60, I can relive my teenage years all over again. Yeehaww....party on, Granny. :p :p

Thanks El Hombre, for the mojito (and the smack, I think -- that was a good smack, right? :p ). The only alcohol I touched on my birthday was a glass of wine at Vito's. I was good. :D
SK, that fireworks show at Cal Expo was SO cool. We braved the herds of people and got a great spot on the crowded lawn, sat back in the chairs and enjoyed the show. Might do it again next year. It was really great seeing you guys after the race. Thanks again for the Peet's (yum!!). That reeeeally hit the spot.
I don't know if you heard me say something about not seeing my friend Charlotte in the finish of the 1/2/3 women's race. Well, I found out soon after you left that she had crashed out the LAST lap --- was taken out by another rider who clipped her pedal around a corner. She's banged up and reeeally pissed at the other girl, but generally ok -- no broken bones. It's a huge bummer for her, since she rode a great race in the heat and would have possibly podiumed in the sprint against the "big girls." :(

How disappointing for Charlotte. Usually I stay over there on the Peets side of the course but I switched to the finish line side this year. I didn't realize how many crashes there were until Andrew came over to talk. He said their were at least 2 in his race. I think they were both in that northwest corner of the loop with the most turns.
I don't know if you saw I managed to get a photo of you. Not very good but a photo of you in action nonetheless.

I was so glad to meet your hubby and your adorable kids. Something tells me they and Trekhawk's boys could wreak a lot of havoc given the chance.:D
