This has probably been asked before
I know nothing of the bikes. I have done a CX race a while back and plan on trying for a good chunk of the local ones this fall.
What should i look for in components - what's a low end, what a high, does it matter for a beginner?? What types of frames
any links or recommendations, send this way!
Thanks

I have a custom Luna Orbit that I love. Steel. It's got campy chorus components (including a compact carbon crankset). I would say that's higher end in terms of cost/durability. It was worth the extra $$$, though. The only regret is that I got disk brakes, which I hate. The pads wear out way too fast. I'm thinking of converting the bike to V-brakes, if possible. Check www.lunacycles.com.
If you're going to race, you'll have to go with V brakes (luckily for you).
I looked at Seven's Mudhoney and nearly got one. Check www.sevencycles.com.

Steel!
(but then, I have a Waterford X-12 and a Surly Cross Check, so I'm just a little biased:D )
I'd like to know about these myself. I'm familiar only with Shimano road components. I'd like to see an ascending to descending list of components in terms of quality.
Han-grrl, if you find a link on your own, please post it here.
