Oh boy....
I already own two wonderful cats. Yet now I find myself wanting to provide a home to a third which is being booted out of its current home.

Am I nuts???? I love my two like they are my children....oh gods, I must be crazy :/

And please spay/neuter your cats.

You're not crazy!! That cat wants you. I keep telling my DH I want to open a pet store. He says "you could never let go of any of the pets." He's right.

I have two siamese, this one is a 9-year old abyssinian...
I really have a special place in my heart for the 'high strung' extremely 'into everything' , always on the move kind of cats....

I emailed the woman that posted the ad, we will see if she responds.

I am sure my bf will be 'relieved' if it already found a home ;)

Another one? Is there any room left in your house? ;)

All I can say is: I'm glad that there is a legal limit to the number of cats/and or dogs I can keep, because otherwise I would have a lot more of them. It's still heartbreaking knowing that I can't take them all home, though :( .

We just adopted our fifth

Honestly, he found us in a roundabout way. We knew it was right, in a strange way. He has really been a great addition to our somewhat high-strung harem and I haven't once doubted bringing him in. I know you can't save them all but each one counts and sometimes you just know.

Not that I'm enabling or anything :D

legal? snort.
until animal control comes into my house and rounds them all up (think herding cats!) no one but us knows how many cats i have! (I have the legal number 3 today... but who knows..

Legal? Nah. But really, my bf and I have 5 and 3 of them kinda found us (they were ferrell kittens just days old in a litter of 6; the other 3 died:( ). The fourth was found in a locked car parked in the heat, no cracked windows, no ac, nothin. My bf almost busted the window open to save her, but the owner just ran out just in time and gave him the kitten. I guess he didn't want to have a busted window. The fifth I adopted before I met my bf. If I knew we were gonna have 5 cats, I might have second guessed it, but probably adopted him anyways;)
So, no you're not crazy.

that is sort of how I feel.

I wish I could save them all, but I know I can't. If I do not feel the personality would fit in with the others...I will not adopt him. They came first, and only if it feels right will I give him a home. he is quite a bit older than my others, but something about the ad that drew me to it.

I can tell we will all have to bring the cameras with us on the PNW Sunday ride and share cat photos...with three tortoiseshells already, I think Ashgarth's personality-fitting-in problem is another reason for me not adopting more :o .

I would not want to have as many cats as I have bikes, that's for sure  .

One of my most tempermental is a tortoiseshell :D

You know what though? The new one has really change the feline continuum. He is so mellow and HUGE (21.6 lbs), the others have stopped playing kitty games and are getting along. It all depends on the cat but sometimes an addition can make a positive difference.

Not that I'm advocating, of course :D

Just like it's impossible to be too thin, too tanned or too rich (wasn't that it?)

- there's no such thing as too many cats.

Technically I only have one, the roommate has the other two. And then there is the little one... we won't go into the cat's room. :p

We have 7 cats and 2 dogs.

AT our peak - we had 7 cats and a dog and a lot of herbal tea. The only good thing I say about it (because all the cats were foundlings and all around the same ages - made for a bad time 18-19 years later when they all died in clumps and our backyard burial ground will make it appear as though we were into some sort of cult) is that although we certainly fit a certain stereotype, we never named any of them gertrude or alice b. toklas.

One more little kitty never hurt anyone.

I say, if you have the space for them and everyone seems to get along ok, then go for it!

I have two of the craziest, most psychotic cats ever. I'm very tempted to get a third because my friend's cat just had kittens. But my house is small and I don't think it would be fair to expect three cats to share that space. It's very tempting though.

oh he was sooo sweet. Kind, gentle and just sat there calmly as we petted and brushed him. I told the woman i would go home and talk with the bf. He is allergic to cats and he/we decided that he needs to overcome the allergies to the cats I already have before we get a 3rd. He was so sweet, he knew I was upset and distrssed and he comforted me and told me it was OK and that I had such a huge heart.

I was so drained emotionally that I feel asleep.

I know this charmer of a kitty will find a home and who ever adopts him will have a real lover.
