Hi Gals, I am interested in doing a century somewhere in Southern Cal in August. Any suggestions? Thanks, B

according to the Western States Ride Calendar (http://www.bbcnet.com/RideCalendar/RideListDate.asp), the only "orgainzed" century is Cool breeze (http://www.cibike.org/page5.html), which sells out. It's usually too hot for a lot of folks to do that distance.

I did it last year and it wasn't remotely hot (maybe a fluke?)... overcast in the morning w/ocean breezes in the afternoon...

It hasn't sold out yet so sign up!!! This is a favorite of many people!!! Fredwina, you should be there too! :p

well, due to budgetary constraints, i'm not doing very many organized rides this year:(
TPrvost is right - it usually is cooler along the coast than out here in des... er... semi-arid areas.;)

Oh, man, now THAT looks like a ride I would love to do. I am NOT a morning person, and one of the hardest things for me about organized rides is that because I'm not fast, yet, I have to get started so blasted early in the morning.

That ride looks amazing. I'm putting that on my "someday" list.

I rode Cool Breeze in 2005 and it wasn't hot that year...

I think it hasabout 6000ft climbing and AMAZING scenery... when you climb to the top of Montecito you can see out to the ocean... amazing! Then you come down and ride right along the ocean for a while... :)
