On bike to work day I began a commitment to commute to work as often as possible. Unfortunately, my 35 pound hybrid ("The Beast") made it a bit of drudgery. So, I sold it on Craig's list and last night I bought a new bike, a Jamis Coda Comp flat bar road bike. Now I can't wait for next week so I can commute to work!

I've already replaced the pedals with my spd's and the saddle with my Terry Liberator. Next will be to add a rear rack.

About 25 pounds, or 10 pounds less than my ex-hybrid. It's a steel frame with carbon fork.

The pictures are blocked for me but I'm at work...rude!

I can't wait to see it though when I get home.

The 2nd pic, from the front, looks like it's alive. With shiny eyes.

That is pretty sweet lookin', Nicole! How's it ride? And what kind of tires have you got on it? Next to lube, tires are becoming my favorite bike toy, ahem, accessory ;)

MD Very nice, why did you get a flat bar road bike instead of a drop down??? The reason I am asking is because I've been looking at road bikes and one LBS was pitching the Giant FCR instead of the drop down. I am 51 and was thinking the flat bar might be the thing for me. Nancy

Nice! I wish I didn't live 25 miles away from work so I could commute. I am thinking about Hybrid commuting- bus & ride. Anyway... Craigslist rocks!!

Very nice. You will have many fun commutes with that guy. I love my flat bar road bike for commuting.

Okay. I don't see a kickstand. How is it standing so straight upright???

Steel frame and carbon fork; a nice smooth ride.

It's stock with 28c Vittoria Zaffiro semi-slicks. I'm pretty sure the rims will take 32's so I bought a pair of WTB All-Terrainosaurus tires for the trail. What do you have on yours for trails?

I've got a set of Kenda Kwik 30c's for dirt/mud, and I just picked up a set of Continental City Ride 32c's (http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?productId=48007349&storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&color=NONE&img=/media/633234.jpg&view=large) for smooth surfaces. I haven't quite gotten to the point of buying slicks yet.

That Topeak stand looks pretty cool. A young woman in our office bought a bike earlier this year and when I asked her what she was doing to care for it, she gave me a blank look. I've been meaning to help her get set up with a stand and some lube. The FlashStand might be perfect for her. Could you bring it tomorrow and show me how it works?
