I am going nuts over here trying to figure out a good route-making match for me.

I have tried reading all instructions and following all said read instructions in efforts to make a ride for late summer (camping trip).

Everytime I try to "follow the dots", I end up making a "as the crow flies" directions across roads and land.

Does anyone know of a route-maker that I perhaps can enter the road coodinates and it maps it for me?

The map makers where you have to mark points all along the road make me crazy! Why not just follow the road???? That's why I use DeLorme Topo for all our team rides. You have to actually buy it, which may be a bummer (we used our REI dividend for it), but you can just click on a few locations and actually get a useable route!!

Try toporoute (http://www.toporoute.com/). If you select the "follow the road" option, it does a really good job.

Once you map the route, hold the mouse over the end point, and it will tell you the final distance. You might have to save the route first to get this...

Here (http://www.toporoute.com/cgi-bin/getSavedRoute.cgi?routeKey=DFAIJFPBGYCABBP)is an example of a saved route. To see the distance, mouse over the endpoint and you will see that this loop is 28.05 miles.

More insanity!
Everytime I try to draw a map on there, I get the first marker drawn, only to have my browser "unexpectedly quit" on me. Damn it!!

When I went to that link, my browser said that a script running from it was making my computer so slow that it would likely cause a crash, so I quit it. This has NEVER happened before on any site! My computer is quite powerful and only 1 year old, too. Guess they might have some glitches to work out? Maybe it doesn't like Firefox?

I really like the site. Thanks for providing the link.

I mapped out the route for Saturday that Ellen, Suzie and I will do. It says 48.97 miles, which is about right, because Suzie and I have a century the following weekend and we don't want to bike too many miles that close to the century. Our route tomorrow goes out to Mt. Angel, and we plan on stopping at a mom and pop hamburger stand for lunch that is on Main Street in the little town.

The site is way cool. I will really have a lot of fun with it this summer.

Double post.
That picture is from my mother wanting me to take a picture to test the lighting for a family photo during Christmas. The official title for that photo is, "My disgust for family photos".

For those of you who know who she is, my friend aptly described it as "Very Amy Sedaris". (Strangers with Candy series and movie on Comedy Central)

For a hot minute there I was getting a lot of new stuff put on my bike (computer, seat, tires, many a tube), so when I got done putting on the new water bottle cages, I thought to myself, "I gotst me some gadgetry now!" It stuck.

The next photo will be of me in my friend Julie's "Midget Tub"- it's a long story- after my first 50 mile ride.
