Tam and I are ready to try Rosaryville again, either June 30, July 1, or July 4. (I'll try to stay on my bike--instead of my face--this time.)
Another option is to do the REI/Wildlife Refuge loop. Or maybe both rides, if we're ambitious.
Anyone else want to join us?

Are you all healed up?
I'm always up for a ride. The REI loop is on-road, right?

Oh, yeah, I'm fine except for a few scars. Yes, the REI loop is a road ride.
I'm only good for roads.
My mountain bike is a museum piece, heavy and suspension-less. It's good for the canal, though.
Come up this way and we can do the three covered bridges ride.

Where is Rosaryville? The flat bar bike I'll probably buy tonight (Jamis Coda Sport) should handle some light MTB'ing. It's got MTB gearing and can take a wider tire.

New bike--cool!
Rosaryville is just beyond Andrews Air Force Base in Upper Marlboro. That would be cool if you could come, too.

Hehe, when we rode Rosaryville the last time, didn't I say we had to get Nicole on an mtb-type bike? ;)
I wanna see your Coda, I keep hearing good things about those bikes.

What's everyone doing on the morning of July 4th? If we want to get Nicole out on the dirt, would that be a good day to do it?

July 4 sounds good to me.

I'll try to swing it. Since I'll be out of town the weekend before and therefore missing my regular weekend ride I can probably sell this as a trade.
There was some talk of doing Rosaryville and a road ride; is that still a possibility?
Just remember, I can't afford an injury that would derail my triathlon training ;)

Janice and I originally were talking about doing one of the rides over that last June weekend, then the other one on July 4.

My neighbors Julie and Anna are going to join us on the July 4 ride at Rosaryville.
So are we set on the meeting time--10 am, with pizza afterwards?

Sounds good to me (especially with pizza afterwards!). Do we want to meet at Rosaryville, since it sounds like so many of us are going? I'd like to take some time to ride around and explore the park roads, too, so I may try to get out there a bit early.
Oh, and everyone remember to bring a few dollar bills to pay the park entrance fee!

Sounds good.
I'll check with Mike about the pizza joint. I have no idea where it's located.
DH got an invite to do the N2 ride on Wednesday, but I think he'll stick with the mtb for the guy-ride. But he'll be oh-so-conflicted! :p

It'll be nice to put a face to DH's name!
And it sounds as if we're gonna take over the whole park ;)

I need an address or something for the park entrance or meeting location.
How much is the park fee?

Map: Rosaryville State Park (http://www.google.com/maps?q=8101+S+Crain+Hwy,+Upper+Marlboro,+MD+20772,+USA&sa=X&oi=map&ct=title). $3 to get in.
Are you ready to get the Jamis dirty?

Sounds like it. Between Regina riding with the guys, Janice's neighbors probably riding with her, and me wanting to explore the rest of the park before the ride, car-pooling seems to have become impractical.
Were you able to get the trail tires on the bike? I put my 30cm semi-knobbies on last night. It should be pretty dry over there in the morning, but some extra "grab" should still be helpful.

I was away for the weekend, returning last night, so I haven't been near the bike yet (other than walking past on my way to the washing machine). I'll get it all set up tonight. :)

I'm riding with the guys?
Did I get the boot?? :( :(
I was sort of unsure where I'd be riding (with my peeps or with my DH.....oh the dilemma!), and now Chandler may want to ride with us (the dirty stay-out that he is....if he's hung over, we'll have to put the hurt on him in a BIG way!).
How technical is the part you'll be riding?
Would I dare try this on my antique hard-tail sometime?
I don't have any knobbies though, I stupidly let the LBS keep them when i was trying to make that bike ride-able for the Cat Challenge last year.

Not technical at all.
It's tight singletrack through mature hardwoods.
Very swoopy - up and down rollers, but no real hard climbs. Two easy water crossings...no obstacles that don't have bail-outs (go-arounds).
When DivingBiker and I did this place with MORE (http://www.more-mtb.org/), some of the folks there were on rigid singlespeeds. Tam did this just fine on her crossbike.
DH calls it a great place to mountainbike for roadies.

I was referring to the car-pool situation. Didn't you say you were driving over with them? I hope you're riding the trail with us, you were a great leader last time!

I and my neighbors will be ready to roll at 10 at Rosaryville. We may not stay for lunch, since Anna has to go to work in the afternoon.
Nicole, don't use Mapquest directions to Rosaryville. Use these from the MORE website instead:
Directions: Washington Beltway (I-95 [east] side) to Rt. 4 South (Pennsylvania Ave.) 2.9 mi. to Woodyard Rd. Exit. Immediate Left at first light at Osborne Rd. Go 2.9 miles to Right at light at Rt. 301 (by Pizza Hut). About 100 yards take a right at Park entrance. Take a Right at park map kiosk to go up hill. Kiosk trail parking lot is first on the right.
Be sure to have $3 (exact change) for the park entrance fee.
See you all there!

Whew. Man, you had me nervous there. I thought I got booted from the "A-list". Yes, I'll be driving there with DH.
Listen to Janice - when we tried the MapQuest directions...it put us on the wrong side of the park.
Mike assures us that great pizza awaits post-ride. I hope many of you can join us for it. It's a bit away - I don't have specifics on it. (Hopefully, Mike does!)

Just thought of something...I've got a pair of knobby 26" tires in my basement. I'm storing my neighbor's mtb for her, and she just got smoother tires put on it. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you used them for a ride. So keep that in mind if you're interested in riding with us sometime, Zen.
