I went on a nice 11 mile ride today. It was great. I have got to get my mileage worked back up, I have been only riding about 6 miles off and on lately do to weather and errands and everything else I let get in my way.
I had a great time this morning. I didn't push real hard because I didn't want to fall out before I got hom. :D

I want to ride more miles though. I feel like a beginner again. Well, I guess I kinda am.

I am a huge wuss when it comes to hot weather, and it's starting to heat up around here. I have Wednesdays off and I usually sleep in. But this morning, I forced myself to get up so I could be on the bike no later than 8 am (yes, I realize this is not really that early, but I'm also a huge wuss about getting out of bed in the morning!). Anyway, rode 25 miles and definitely beat the heat. It only got up to the high 80's here today, but to me, that's plenty hot. See, I told you I was a wuss!

I had every intention of doing my regular Wednesday night training ride only to find the ride leader not at the appointed meeting place. Seems he was unable to make it and forgot to inform all of his riders! I went out anyway and when I saw the sky start to blacken raced back to the house. Not only did I not make it but i got BLOWED OVER by a gust of wind. I wasn't too far from the house and rather risk getting BLOWED OVER (yes, I said blowed) again, I hoofed it and got soaked.

I'm still cold, I'm getting in a warm bath.

I hope my shoes dry out in time to ride tomorrow morning:p

I thought it was going to rain, but the weather held back for me. Just a solo 25 mile flat/rolling recovery ride this evening. Very nice weather too (Partly cloudy, 80 degrees, light 11mph wind). Saw two other riders out.. one guy on a little mountain bike working his butt off in a headwind; passed him on the way out and again coming back in.

Time 1.35
Dst 25.2
Max 27.7
Avg 15.8

PS. Zen I found out a long time ago and got reminded Sunday that Sidis dry out pretty darn fast!

I did a 15 mile ride. All flat. It was good to be back on my road bike and cruising, after several VERY slow rides with a friend.

I was planning my first group ride tonight but it was cancelled as well. Kind of a bummer. Ahh well I went for a bike ride on my own and ran into a friend. Well not literally ran into. I was at a stoplight and and he crossed the road in front of me.

I did a very quick 5.5 miles this morning. It was supposed to be 10 but as I headed down some back farm roads it got really really foggy, the kind of fog that makes moisture drip off down your sunglasses and you can't see. The traffiic wasn't really all that heavy but the roads are very narrow and there were some cars. I was afraid they wouldn't see me through the fog so I just cut the ride short.

I did a really nice rolling terrain 30 mile ride this morning. I felt strong, and the scenery was beautiful.

80 miles in sunny, 90-degree central Indiana. Aaah, life is good! Large, sweeping loop-course designed to head east and north into the wind (from the northeast) for the first half and then head for home with the wind at our backs. Nice try! Wind shifted to the south instead, so only about 15 miles of the ride were wind-assisted. GRR! Thought I was going to lose it when I realized at 60 miles that the final 20 would be straight into the wind, but (being one who never let's the road see me cry) I chose to occupy my mind by developing all sorts of fiendishly gruesome ways to eradicate all weatherpersons from the face of the earth. That predicted 7mph wind? Apparently a figment of their imagination. 12mph gusting to 21, officially -- not ideal for weakling, light-weights like myself.

Didn't have to deal with a single discourteous motorist and encountered only a handful of dogs. The worst thing we had to dodge was the dead animals -- mouse, shrew, vole, frog, cat, skunk, three raccoons in three different locations, sparrow, cardinal -- the list goes on. Did see several deer (of the live variety) and had a whole family of baby killdeer skitter across the road in front of us (cutest little things you'll ever see!).

All in all, a fantastic ride!

My cold-weather gloves and booties finally arrived--and I can't use them because it's raining! We only get a few storms a year, so I'm not complaining. It's a nice change, really, but man do I want to try out my new gear.

Did 15 miles last night to see if I was ready to be back on the bike after having a stomach viral infection. It was nice, tonight planned 30 miles and came home to storms. Oh well at least we don't have to water the yard! :)
