Hi ladies!

I attended the men's World Cup race here in Vancouver yesterday and took loads of pics. Here is a sample (ok a big one):

My sweetie is a big fan of Simon Whitfield so I took lots of pics of him. (He won, by the way. With a 29:52 10K time.....!!!! )

Notice the deltoid and quad muscle definition on those guys........ [insert drooling emoticon here]

Watch the running pics in particular. Whitfield (CAN) and Potts (USA) were literally shoulder to shoulder and thigh to thigh for the longest time, until the very last 500 m. Very impressive.

Oh, and the cute boy in one of the very last pictures is my sweetie. :p I have nice pics of him racing but I wouldn't want him to outshine the pros.....!! :D :D :D

Too cool!!! Thanks for posting the pics- I love to see the pros in action. Makes me want to life more weights, tho. Killer muscular definition on those bones...
Your sweetie is quite the cutie, too! I'm sure he looked just as fabulous out there racing with the pros!!!

A 29 min 10K??? That's my 5K time. I'm always amazed at the speed of some people- that's just incredible!!!

Thanks for sharing- they're great pics!!!

hihi :) he was not racing on Sunday. The pros raced on their own, too. The age-groupers raced at 7:30am, the women pros at noon and the men pros at 3pm. Because they are allowed drafting, and because the course is very short (8 loops of 8km) it wouldn't be possible to have non-pros there. They pulled the racers who were lapped, too.

I must say I find it incredible, too. It's not that far from the winning 10K times that you normally see (in the 28-minute range). However, as the abovementionned sweetie was noting, they don't work very hard on the bike (all things relative). The winning pack consisted of 7-8 riders, they took turns pulling, and still the average speed was only 40 km/h (not very fast for these people). Okay, there were lots of turns, but still, nothing to die about. So his theory is that the bike wouldn't be a big handicap before the run.

You should have seen them transitioning, too!!! Once they got in the transition area, they were out within 30 seconds, including taking off their wetsuit. The bike-to-run was even faster (except for Whitfield as you can see from the many pictures, he "took his time"), probably in the 10-second range. These guys must have a whole workout made of transitions!!!

Thanks for letting me share, it was a pretty exciting moment!!
