I just opened a new bank account solely because the bank involved is running a competition with a prize of a trip to le Tour de France - with anybody with a certain account balance at the end of this month going into the draw
you ladies understand .... don't you

Heck yeah, I understand that! You can always close the account if you don't win the trip ;)
Wow.
Banks here don't even give away toasters anymore:rolleyes:

I've edited my original to make it clearer that opening a n accoutn only gets you into the draw:rolleyes:

ok... how long is this going and is this a bank in the North Island?
I think this is worth opening an account for...
Which bank do I head in the direction of please, Kiwi?

It is rabobank online accounts
www.raboplus.co.nz
you need to have $1000 in the account on 30 June to go into the draw (so I guess my other bank won't be too happy)

Hahah! Well then your own bank should send you to watch the TdF if they want to keep your money. :D
Over here, Hampton Hotels have apparently started a contest where an overnight stay registers you win to a TdF trip.
Me: HONEY! I have this sudden urge to get a hotel room!
DH: ... ?

yeah
part of the reason for the 'other bank' comment was directed at RR and other NZers because it is a line that Rabobank use in their own advertising - which is a running joke about having an affair
this is how the bank itself describes their ads
"The RaboPlus TV & radio commercials are designed to highlight the often stale relationships people have with their existing banks and show how a little flirtation on the side can fit easily alongside their existing bank."
The tagline of the ads is to describe themselves as 'your significant other, bank'

Gnat - we must've been posting at the same time!
I like your idea! Maybe I'll go have a chat with my bank and see what they have to say!
Kiwi! Good morning girl! I'm about to go for a ride on the spin bike before work so I'll spot you later - still dark here, though calm, no wind or rain at the moment - you have a great day.
I didn't get your refernce to "the other bank" cause I hardly ever watch/listen to ads, so sorry, that went completely over my head!

Posted the application bits off Wednesday... should be up and running by the end of the month.
So funny, you know Kiwi... I had not noticed the ads on TV at all before you posted, and now I see them every day!
