Has anyone here tried couch-surfing or warm-showers? I have heard pretty good things about them, but I guess I'm a little cautious.
If there are hosts out there, anyone available to accomodate a cycling guest (me!) on June 29th and 30th in the Vancouver area? I'm trying to be economically smart about my Pacific coast tour. I'm quiet and won't demand much. Thanks!

oh! oh!!!
I am an avid couch surfer! In my opinion it is the ONLY way to travel. If you are not shy about sharing a bathroom, living space and meeting facinating people then by all means surf away! I have had situations where I have had my own room slept on the floor, slept on an airmattresss--you have to be up for anything. Plus keep in mind, some people may ask you to leave for the day while they are at work..so be VERY patient and accepting. It is custom for the surfer to cook a meal, or take the hosts to dinner or something as a 'thank you'
I have surfed by myself over seas as well as in the US, I have also hosted men, women, couples etc. I myslef perfer to stay with females only, or couples. Women are very accomodating of other women.
Usually more than 2 nights at one place is too much. Trust me....I had a guy stay for 8 nights!!! yikes.
I surf around town, try different neighbourhoods, see new places and stay with several different hosts. Look for people with picturs and filled in profile as well as at least 1-2 friends and positive feedbacks only
If you have any questions, by all means, let me know:)
I knwo some great folks in Seattle if you are going there. I will be surfing with them again for a second time this upcoming August.
I love it!!

I thought this was going to be about some lewd and perverted behavior I wasn't (yet) familiar with:eek: Sorry, I had to say it

Haha, it does sound kinda dirty, doesn't it? :p
Liz, you'd be welcome on my couch, but I'm too far away from where you're going! When do you land in Vancouver?
Hugs and happy couch-finding butterflies,

I've been on the warm showers list for a few years. I've housed a dozen or so touring cyclists (on my couch). most have been great - a couple were pains in the ***. while I've never stayed with anyone on the list, I have emailed a few for route suggestions, etc.

Thanks, ladies. I think I may have found someone to stay with from Warmshowers!
To answer a question, I will be getting to Vancouver the 29th of this month!! And thanks for the offer to stay with you, LBTC:D
