In light of some recent "negativity" I've been reading here on the forums, I just wanted to post my thanks to everyone here for being so helpful, supportive, friendly, funny, and just wonderful in general! The wealth of information on these boards is really exceptional. And I'm so impressed with the intelligent and mature group of women here. This is the first discussion board I've ever joined for this very reason.
I have a few cyclist friends and I love to ride with them. But they've been riding for years and I can't expect them to teach me everything or to ride with me all the time. TE has been such a blessing! In addition to the incredible amount of information I've gathered here on TE, I really feel like checking in here every day has given me motivation to keep going. Just knowing that others have been where I am and have shared my struggles helps so much. I don't think I'd be doing nearly as well as I am if I hadn't found TE!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! :D :D :D

I agree with Sara !!! Also new to the bike and my friends think I'm nuts !! Most of them also exercise but know nothing about the bike. Now that I have such "bike love" they think I've fallen off the deep end !! So thankful for TE! I've learned so much and I'm becomming much more confident in my riding . . now just have to tackle the tire changing a few times and I'll be on my way !
blessings, Susan

Sara, what a great thread. I feel the same way about it. :)
PS: I love your avatar...that sunflower against the blue sky just makes me happy. :)

Thanks, Starfish! There is actually a honey bee on the flower, but you can't see it cuz the avatar pic is so small. :)

Ditto Sara. While DH and I host a ski racing forum, I have shied away from cycling forums because I am a (relative) newbie, and I have seen people like myself get blasted on other cycling forums. You guys (in the collective sense, that is), have helped me address issues that my cycling buddies (DH, and several other of our ski racing friends - all of whom are male and have been racing/riding for a LONG time) can't answer/wouldn't even think of answering.
I know that I am sort of an on-again-off-again member, but the information and support here is invaluable, and brings me back again and again. Thanks, everyone. :) :) :)

Sara- I love how you avatar is getting so many responses. When you posted the little bike you found I imagined it tucked in a patch of sunflowers. How funny that we all see it and just think nice thoughts. :D

I've never forgotten the ride I did with some TE folks out in Davis almost two years ago. BikerZ gave me a ride and SadieKate rode with me and my sorry self on a god awful heavy bike...I was clueless!
Now I'm back...thank you all for being here!

Thank you all for your kind words about my avatar!
See, yet another positive aspect of TE...fun avatars and nice people to comment on them!

I have to post my agreement on this one. I really dislike the locker room environment of other biking forums--too many bullies, too much chest beating. It's so much more... reasonable on here!
And now I want a red hot chili pepper for my avatar! Gotta figure out how to get one.

Ditto to everything above. Great avatars too. Jobob, I have the buff, but do we know if the jerseys will be available again?

P.S., I just saw SadieKate's post (didn't mean to hijack this thread).

Hey--my chili peppers worked! (What's the saying about simple pleasures for simple minds?)
