I didn't know what RAAM was last year until it was too late. It sounds pretty cool, so I'd like to keep track of it this year. Is there a good source for live or daily reports, aside from cyclingnews.com and velonews.com (if those cover it at all)?

last year one of the teams had streaming video that you could watch.. I'm not sure about this year. But it is that time again huh?? Sheesh time flies! Seems like I was just watching it!

Velo news and cycling news don't cover it. Last year, the RAAM website itself had updated throughout the day. Also, many teams will have updates and as RM said, sometimes video.

You have to check out each team's web site though the RAAM organizers may provide some notes about particular teams providing video once the race gets started. There are usually some photos posted each day at the race web site.

Duh... If I'd Google'd, I would have probably found the site for RAAM. Thanks for the link, SadieKate :o

RAAM's website is supposed to have increased coverage this year. We've been instructed to email Perry (the media guy) if we have anything to report...exciting, or not...lol!

As someone mentioned I'm the crew chief for Team Beat Cancer, a two man team. We leave on Tuesday (solo riders leave Sunday) at 2:00 p.m. We will have daily updates, hopefully more often, with pictures on our blog, so please check in everyday to see how George, Rick and our crew of twelve are doing. I'm George's primary support person, so while he's riding, I'm in the follow van and I should be able to blog often.

Our team will also be doing updates on http://www.thefredcast.com/ at least daily, possibly more often.

Thank you! We're very excited to update people along the way. We have an amazing photographer on our crew and everyone has been instructed to snap as many pictures as possible. Our flickr badge is on the upper right corner of the sidebar, so be sure to check there everyday for additional pictures!

Rest? Who needs rest? :p I have been forewarned that I need as much as and possibly more sleep than the crew so that I may "maintain my rational decision making abilities on day 5+ when everyone else is cracking"...words from a two time RAAM veteran. :D

I'll get lots of little naps whenever George is sleeping, then I will get relief once a day for a big chunk of sleep when our rider support relief person takes over for a 6 hour stretch. That should be plenty. <~~~she says now. :p

I've been following Brandy's blog and all I can say is WOW! RAAM's a tough race to follow, seeing as how you can't really watch any of it, but her reports on Team Cancer's experiences in Kansas (http://teambeatcancer.blogspot.com/) really brought it to life for me. Go Rick & George! And thank you, Brandy, for taking the time to write such great blogs in between taking care of the guys :D

I am also keeping track of Brandy's RAAM blog. It is so exciting and what an inspiration, especially with what George and Rick are achieving with lack of sleep no less.

Holy cow - what a race.

Our friends with JDRF did great. Also Brandy's team just finished up today - after George had to ride the last 250 miles solo due to injury to the other team member. Amazing!

My friend Nicole's 2 woman team set a course record.

The first ever single speed finished.

I wish RAAM had TV coverage!

My friend "Commander Flyboy" and his team finished yesterday (Team 2Cure Huntingtons)

I'm very proud of all of our RAAM riders!

hee hee

I just checked Brandy's blog (very nicely done, btw - she has quite the talent for writing! ) and George posted this:

"I didn't know what to expect but I know now that I think it would be easier to do Solo RAAM"

Oy, poor Brandy. :D

Brandy's blog has been great - Team Beat Cancer has really been inspiring. I'm still following Kerry White too via the RAAM forum - she's riding unofficially and should finish tomorrow.

RAAM definitely deserves TV coverage, and improved coverage from the cycling press, and a much better website. It is thrilling to see "everyday" athletes, and their crews, do such an amazing thing.

Didn't CBS do a special on RAAM in the last year or so?

(Altho if it's the program I'm thinking of, it was very disappointing - it went waaay overboard on the human interest to the point of being sappy. I was calling it "RAAM on Ice" :p )

Congrats to Team Cancer! And thank you to Brandy for helping us to experience RAAM vicariously. It was so cool to read about the guys riding through western Md and up into Pa, and know that they were passing through areas that I'm familiar with.

I hope George and Rick get plenty of rest now!
