Hi girls. Did you ever want to ride some technical ST in southern california? I found this on line. One of our local trails. First you have to climb, so this just shows the downhill. It's about 4 minutes long. I actually rode down this as a beginner last year... on my hardtail... I thought I was going to fall off the edge. Now I know every twist and turn, boy can you fly!

OMG!!! I had SO much fun watching this video. Not to mention that is one of my favorite ride songs from Third Eye Blind! What a fantastic ride, and the guys riding it....yes! Thanks for making my night fun, I loved it and book marked it for future viewing. Towards the last part of the video it reminded me so much of riding Joes Ridge in Fruita. Rock on!

VERY COOL!
Where is that ride if I may ask? The husband is working in so cal more and more lately, and he takes his bike with him and tries to get out during the week. Lately he's been taking the roadie, but his heart is on his mtb!

Sweet video! It started off so simple looking...and then the ledges and rocks! Looks like a blast, yet challenging. I have nothing like that here in MI.
I'm actually planning a mountain biking trip to CA in Jan. Tentative plan is to fly into LA and out of San Diego.
I may be hitting you up for suggestions on places to ride when the time gets closer.

That was SOOOO cool!!! Thanks for sharing it!!! I was nervous watching that singletrack going along the side of the mtn...scary!! I don't mind falling over on my mtn bike- I just don't want to fall off a cliff!
Thanks for sharing- LOVED it!!!

OMG  I'd be so afraid of going off the edge! Now I know why I don't mtb. I'd rather be rock climbing ;)

Scha-weeeeet!!!
Yeah, tho....the drop-off on that second section would make me second guess my decision to say "Sure. Let's go mountainbiking!" :p
But I could see where you could get smokin' on some of those other sections. Fun!

WOW! The beginning and end sections looked like great fun, but the middle section where it got narrow, rocky, and ledgy....no way could I convince myself to do that.
I'm very impressed that you ride that, FBG! Good on you! Me, I'll stick to my wooded trails in NC, I think.... :o

If you like that kind of riding - you should come to Arizona to ride. It's very similar. The Phoenix riding is great, the Flagstaff riding (singletrack) is even better!

Wow is right. I agree with Emily the middle section would be a little scary for this rider. I fall way toooooo much to be on the edge of a cliff.:D

It's not so bad- really it's a rush! My friend crashed off the side back in January and broke a couple ribs. I've had a close call or two...
Here's a map: http://www.venturacountytrails.org/TrailMaps/SimiRockyPeak/AreaHome.html
We are just north of L.A.
The singletrack in the video is the Chumash trail. It's the one right in the middle of the map that runs east/ west. The fireroad at the beginning is Rocky Peak, which runs North/South. I posted a google earth picture once, let me see if I have it still. We ride a clockwise loop- about 10 miles. If anyone needs socal info, let me know, or check out this website for Ventura County.

Yep, the stuff on the edge of the ledge makes me nervous almost as much as off-camber trails. And I certainly wouldn't be moving that quickly either Very cool video and I'm jealous of the trails near you also ;)

Yes! We have a huge trail system in Ventura/ Los Angeles counties. And we can ride all year (although when it gets to be in the 90's we usually ride at the crack of dawn or early evenings. I haven't done a night ride yet but I hope to.) I can ride out my front door and go all day for miles and miles without hitting pavement.
I had a friend who moved to LA from Rochester and her #1 surprise was that there were mountains in Los Angeles.:p

Great video, I really enjoyed it :p Thanks for sharing. Makes me want to go fix the flat on my hardtail and hit the trails. I have sort of given up mtb for the road, I don't fall down and get hurt as much :o
Thanks, I will go out to the garage now and check out the mtb.

Cool video. Thanks for posting it and the maps. I need to figure out how to make some videos, but for now I'll stick with map making from my GPS units. :D
