Well, last evening I drove to my local Monday night ride group to meet up with the rest of the ladies and do our usual thing, ride. We meet in a parking lot of a bank that's right off of a busy intersection in a nice part of town and not too far from a private college during rush hour traffic. I got there 20 minutes early along with another woman and we started chatting about our day and how our lives were turning out, rides we plan on doing, etc when we spotted 3 young girls, probably in their early teens, riding new cruiser/commuter bikes and non of them were wearing helmets. They were riding on the sidewalk, laughing away and not paying any attention. Now, usually this isn't a bad sight to see, young women getting around town with their bikes having a good time, but then:
As they were starting to cross the bank driveway, 2 of the girls stopped because a car pulled up and stopped, wanting to exit the parking lot. But, the third girl didn't stop and instead was swerving to slow down and keep control of her bike. As she went to cross the driveway and not hit the car leaving, a car coming from behind them, pulled up into the driveway slowly. I didn't see anything, but I heard a loud "CLUNK" and no girl:eek: . The car stopped and then the girl popped up from falling over, laughing away. The driver made sure the girl was ok and I'm pretty sure that the driver didn't know that the third girl wasn't stopping like the other two. The girls continued on the merry way, laughing about the whole incident:confused:  .
My friend and I were just looking on in shock, like "oh my goodness is she ok" and then "good she's ok but OH MY GOODNESS!!" I wanted to tell her that she needs to learn the brake levers on that thing, that's why they're there and PAY ATTENTION!
I'm still a little in shock and glad that no one was hurt and no damage was done. Please be careful out there everyone!
