 ooohhhhhhkaaaaaayyyy... don't think I'll be there for that...think I'll skip that organized ride.
Can you imagine the chaffing in all kinds of obnoxious places... not to mention getting arrested naked. What would they do to my precious bike???

just weird...

Really and truly?

No thanks...

Reminds me of something my partner saw last summer as he was cycling home past the river.

A guy bikes out from one of the tracks wearing nothing but a white helmet...

He saw him again a couple of months ago at a bike-awareness ride we were at. The weird thing is that the woman he was with is one of my students! Small world huh?

The impression I get from reading Cycling+UK magazine is that events like this are a fairly frequent ocurrence over in the UK. Not so stuffy, those Brits, huh?

All modesty aside, I agree with Tri Girl. The potential for painful chafing just wouldn't be worth it. ;)

No way! Not only the discomfort but one pot-hole and I'd prolly get knocked out!

But other than that whole danger from and to the bits thing, hmmm......

Well, we've got the Naked Rambler who's always getting arrested for wearing nothing but a rucksack:eek:

Somehow I think I'll definitely be giving this event a miss.

We've even got a local event! Too bad I'll be out of town for my diabetes ride :(

Date: Saturday 9 June 2007
Time: 9am meet, 10am ride
Location: McPherson Square, Washington, DC

(Tentative information – check website for details)
[Edit] Information

We are holding the second WNBR in DC, June 9th 2007.

Last year went very well and we again have all the required permits!

Meet at McPherson Square, convenient to the Metro, between 9:00 am and 10:00 am.

We will be riding past the Capital Building and the White House! Will have body painting in a screened off area and snacks.

Well, the World Naked Bike Ride made headlines: CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/06/09/cyclists.naked.reut/index.html?eref=rss_topstories). No mention of the DC version in local news, though.

Over here in the UK it's very tempting to cast off every stitch of clothing as we're having a glorious day...but somehow I think I'll give it a miss:p

Damn, this ride always falls on the very weekend before Finals for me. :(

Last year my sweetie and I (he was not quite yet my sweetie) were at a 24 hour cafe studying our butts off (and falling madly in love) when suddenly the entire cafe emptied out as everyone ran out onto the sidewalk hooting and hollering at the nekkid people riding by. This year, we were studying our butts off in his apartment which is a few blocks from the route. Shortly after midnight, we could hear a raucous chorus of whoops and whistles echoing through the neighborhood.

Someday I have got to make time to do this!! In the meantime, I'll read the local BikePortland WNBR report (http://bikeportland.org/2007/06/10/report-naked-ride-satisfies-despite-premature-pull-out/) and live vicariously through it. :D
