First of all I have to let all the Iron women and 1/2 iron women know that I think you are all incredible, amazing, fantastic, inspiring women!
I stayed up way too late watching ironman clips on youtube and thought of each of you. :)
Now to the question - I haven't seen this addressed anywhere and it is driving me crazy!
In regards to your feet after the swim before putting on your socks and shoes before the ride.
How do you clean your feet off? Isn't there a lot of clingy sand, pebbles, grass debris what ever all over your feet?
I am thinking I need to get my feet clean before putting my socks on or by the time I hit the run it will all be embedded in my skin and very uncomfortable.
The plan is to do a mini tri on Sat to practice everything

I bring a hand towel and dry my feet before I put on shoes and socks.

Like Knot, I have a large towel folded up in transition to wipe my feet dry. I used to have a water bottle to squirt them and dry them off, but now I don't take that time. I just wipe off any crud and put my socks and cycling shoes on.

Ditto!
If the walk from the swim to T1 looks really bad though, I also put my flip flops near the swim exit. When I get out, I put on my flip flops and off to T1 I go. Yes, I'm a whimp with tender feet... and my transition times are horribly long. But I'm not winning anything, so what's a few extra seconds to keep my feet comfortable?
I also go sans socks for the bike portion. Most of the water from your body will drain into your shoes and socks. So, by not putting my socks on I have dry socks waiting for me, for the run.
You are doing a 1/2 or a full IM this weekend? Congratulations!

HECK NO! ! ! ! I am just gearing this old body up to attempt a sprint distance! That is why I find those that do the IM's and 1/2 IM's AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, FANTABULOUS, AWE INSPIRING, I could go on and on and on!
3 miles of running to me feels like a full marathon! (the swim and the bike I could handle but I don't know how ANYONE can run a marathon!)

AH! I got it.
Yea, I don't know if I can ever do a marathon. Well, let me change that...I know the ONLY time I will do a marathon is at the end of an Ironman :p

Hi again eclectic!
When is your tri? I get to town on the 11th and could show you how we set up our transition area here in Texas. I think you know how to find me...I would be happy to share tips and hear about your training and the tri.

Dang! dang! double dang! the tri is on the 10th in Bismarck - I plan on doing Prairie Rose in July so you can help me critique the last one and get ready for the next one.
Can't wait to see you! ! !
