Has anyone read the book, "Younger Next Year - for Women." by Chris Crowley? It pretty much validates what I've discovered over the last 52 years of living, as far as exercise and diet and joyful living. I could never have written a book, of course!! There is also an edition for men (published first.) Fascinating reading.

I've heard of that but doubt I would read it. I don't want to be younger next year, I'm pretty happy as I am.

Right now I'm re-reading Trail Fever by Micheal Lewis. It's a chronicle of the 1997 presidential election. Very funny, and nothing has changed in 11 years.

I read it and it changed my life.
My husband read it and it changed HIS life too.
No kidding.

I believe it! Now if only I can get my hubby to read it........... He is in dire need of a life change.

I found it recorded as a book on CD from the library and got my DH to listen to it on a long trip. Then he listened to it a second time. They only have to read a couple chapters before it hits!

good luck!

Can anybody tell me a little about its contents please? Just so I know if I'd be interested in ordering it from my local book store. I'm not into spiritual stuff, but am interested in improving health and wellbeing. :D

You can find a synopsis here (http://www.amazon.ca/Younger-Next-Year-Women-Biological/dp/0761140735/ref=sr_1_1/701-3158073-0270759?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1180626345&sr=1-1)
I think I already knew this stuff but see what you think.

The guy reviews what we are doing with our physical bodies and graphically explains what will happen if we don't start doing lots of good exercise.
we can exercise now and live a healthy life until the end, or we can stay slacking and deteriorate quickly in our 70's and be miserable.
he has lots of good ideas, common sense, and a sense of humor.

not spiritual at all.
Talks about things that will motivate you..

From the author's website:

Chris' Daily Motivation
Chris Crowley
Co-author of Younger Next Year

If you were ever a biker and liked it even a teeny bit, go out right now and buy yourself a decent road bike. With modern gearing and brakes. It will get you out the door and up the hill and there is nothing better for you. Ever. And you can do it until the day you die. Almost. So go buy a good bike.

Do not get the old wreck out of the attic as a first step. It was a great bike once but bikes have gotten radically better, easier to ride and more fun. You're what..fifty? Well, my God, you deserve decent gear. So go get yourself a good one and go for a ride. You'll be stunned at how much more fun it has become. If you're in hideous shape, start with a hybrid..they're cheap and they don't cost much. But trade up as soon as you can because a real road bike is such a treat. Ride every other day for the rest of your life.

Thanks for the book suggestion! My husband is an avid reader & I know would enjoy this book.

Will just the "Younger Next Year" book do for both of us?

Thanks!

Have a nice day everyone.

Denise,
it could be my imagination, but I preferred how he spoke to women. I heard (in the car with DH) what he had to say to men, and it seemed more crude and flippant compared to the book i read for women.

The message is definitely the same, though; but women have some different issues, like osteoporosis.
