We went camping up north for an extra long weekend. I brought the road bike and the burley. Saturday we did the traditional post-marathon ride. Although, DH was the only one with the privelage of running this one :) We always do an easy road ride the afternoon after a long race like that to keep things from tightening up. This ride turned out to not be so easy. It's much hillier up there than down here. Nothing like towing a 40lb trailer up a steep 1/2 mile hill into the wind.
I was able to do a solo ride the next day. Planned to take it easy, I always have good intentions. Decided to ride out towards the bay and ended up doing a 3 mile climb. I don't live in the mountains so this was a completely new experience for me. What a workout! But the view from the top was AMAZING. Wish I had the camera with me. And of course, I had a 1 mile downhill to recover. I got up to 40 mph.
It was great to be on the bike and explore. This was the first time in a long time I felt like I could just enjoy the ride and not worry about "training."
