I woke up on the wrong side of the bike today - Woke up to work related b/s, chores, and just plan CRANKY. I finally clear my plate enough to take a short ride - I don't want to but I force myself so as not to skip a day. I head out and I am SO not feeling it.

I decide to do my short rolling hills loop instead of my not so short ocean view loop. At every intersection I want to turn home. At every hill my muscles are screaming at me. Every van that goes by feels the need to give me a toot, only adding to my annoyance and I'm thinking to myself constantly.. What was I thinking? Why am I doing this? This sucks - I want to go home and float in the pool..I actually wanted to apologize to the Girl for being in such a bad mood.

Then.. there it is.. that sudden realization that I've stopped complaining, my legs have stopped hurting and I'm in a groove. God I love that. I don't even know when or where it happened.. somewhere around mile 12 - hill #3 and I realize that I'm down in the drops, a long stretch of flat is opening up in front of me and damn if the MPH didn't drop below 20 for the next 5 miles.

Heaven

Got home - total 20 miles on the nose and a new personal best for my hilly loop - avg speed 14.1. I FINALLY broke the 13.7 mark.

Still a little cranky but - :) all in all, a productive morning was had. I love my bike.

Half of that feeling is hormones (the good kind) the other half is mental.

I know the feeling...and I like it too!

Heh. Whenever the spouse and I think that we want to skip a ride, we always remind each other how much better we'll feel after we ride. And sometimes we don't feel better (physically, at least), but we've got the knowledge that we did it anyway, and that ALWAYS gives us the mental boost. Many thumbs up to you!!!!!
