Hey everyone -
If all goes well, and the wrench gods smile on me, my frame and the LBS, I should be taking delivery of my new bike (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?p=205082#post205082) on this Saturday afternoon! (Just over 48 hours from now, but who's counting?)
And that means I plan to be out riding on Sunday and Monday. I was thinking my first ride could be the Alameda Creek Trail - lots of nice flat riding to get used to the feel and components, and then a little jaunt up JoBob's Nemesis Hill, just for kicks  !
And then Monday maybe riding Old Tunnel Rd and Skyline, or maybe (this is how optimisitc I am about the impact this new bike will have on my cycling!) the Three Bears loop.
If it's going to be warm, my preference would be an early-ish start (yesterday's 90+ degree creep up Old Tunnel was not that fun!).
Anyone available for any of these rides?

It's not going to be painted - just the plain Ti tubes. :D

bikerz and all,
Monday I will be picking up UK at SFO. I'll watch this space for a Sunday ride. I might need a low key keep the jittery nerves down easy ride myself that day.

I'm interested in Old Tunnel or the Bears on Monday.

no need to be frightened, Z ....

Excellent! :)
The Bears on Monday looks like a possibility - but probably on the earlier side to avoid the heat... I will post more as plans solidify.
And Trek, ACT would be a nice, non-jittery ride on Sunday, wouldn't it?
(Team Darwin Award, eh? I read of your exploits with amazement! I'll just let you guys go first, and follow from a safe distance!)

Team Darwin Award, eh? I read of your exploits with amazement! Amazement, as in "what kind of idjit would ride towards a fire?! Yes, you can always count on Team Darwin Award for thoughtful decision-making. ;)

OK! My bike is here! It's beautiful!
So, how about tomorrow (Sunday) - Alameda Creek Trail parking lot 9:30, riding by 9:45! Who's in? (For those who don't now where that is, check this post (http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=6348))
Here is a link to a Google map of the location of the Niles Canyon staging area, with a small parking lot, picnic benches and porta-potties.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...04884,0.107803
The general location is 700 Old Canyon Rd Fremont, CA 94536 if you want to map-quest directions.
Oh, and for Monday, I'm thinking that that I ought not to have my first attempt at the Bears this season be while I'm still in the "getting to know you" phase with my new bike. So Monday might be something more like the Bay Trial with all extensions - lots of flat miles while I get used to the new position. (Sorry Kim!)

Hey-
Sorry, but I won't be able to make it tomorrow :-( The dissertation writing is actually going pretty well, but my best friend unexpectedly came to town this weekend, so I took a couple hours off this afternoon to have lunch with her, and I really need a good night sleep before pounding the rest of this thing out tomorrow and Monday.
Have a great time, and after June 14th I will be up for lots of riding! :D

Trek and Snap! Excellent - this will be a fun ride!
Ellen - I'm sorry you can't join us, but I'm glad you had a good visit with your friend.
Kim - well, various factions are trying to talk me into doing the Bears on Monday, so we may end up out there after all - but I know my pace is still going to be on the slow side (let's remember - Seven or no Seven, its still ME on the bike!).
I really enjoyed my little circuits around the LBS today, so I think tomorrow will be great - I'll take pictures!

Hey there -
It looks like it might just be Trek, Melissa and me today - could be push our meeting time back to 10 instead of 9:30?
(I dreamt about riding my bike last night!)

Sounds so ... seditious. It's super windy on this side of the hills today, so let's hope the winds die down a bit should the factions win.

Today's ride was great! :)
Thanks, Trek for coming out on the Seven's maiden ride! I even made it right to the top of the Nemesis hill without stopping! (Although I would have *liked* to stop, except I couldn't get out of the loaner pedals I was using  , so I just had to keep going! [Note to self - new training technique?])
Tomorrow (Monday) the Plan A is to ride the Bears unless it is way too windy. Plan B is up in the air -maybe Tunnel Rd and Skyline instead.
I am really loving this bike - it will take me a little while to get used to being in a different riding position, but it is so smooth and nice to ride!
I'll post some pictures tomorrow!
Ann (happy Seven rider!)

Thanks gals, I had a really great time.
Near the end of the ride we passed a kid dejectedly walking his bike. Bikerz and Mellisam asked how long he'd been walking. About 45 minutes. Since he didn't have a spare tube and we all had roadie pumps (reminder, another thing I need to get is one of those shrader/presta adapter thingies because you never know who you'll need to help or help you out)
Mel held an expert yet comical demonstration of how to patch a tube. :p
Nice job gals. And while the 3 bikergals are helping this kid out, how many guys with MTB and everything one needs to fix a flat passed by??
Then back to the ride start and it being TE....everyone tried everyones bikes. Bikerz that is one sweet bike. I took my first spin on a Bianchi (still have never tried carbon) and Mel tried my Mendocino Marinara oh what's it called? Mondonico.
I was about to put my bike on the rack when up ride a whole bunch of ALC'ers who I know from previous rides. "We're having a BBQ after our ride, c'mon it's only 10 more miles and I can bring you back here" which is a good thing because I would have never found the route back.
So off we went.

The Bears are on! It's nice and sunny over there, and no wind, so I'm told. We'll be doing a 20 mile loop, 1500 ft of climbing.
We're leaving from Castro Ranch Rd at 10:00 - anyone who wants to join us. PM me by 9:30 and I'll give you directions!
Watch this space for a full report, and bike photos!

Are you leaving from the Park n Ride at the corner of Castro Ranch and San Pablo Dam Rd? I think I'll join you, and if feeling peppy will maybe do Wildcat or Pinehurst afterwards.

No, but very near there - we're meeting at my friend's house - she lives a couple of blocks from there off Castro Ranch Rd.
Please do join us! How does the timing work for you?
