Raleigh makes great bikes. My husband has put over 10,000 miles on his Raleigh competition.
I have a Raleigh hybrid, and it never gave me any trouble.

I've a 9 year old Raleigh R700 and my sister has one too. Great bike with decent components for the money, thousands of miles on mine in sun, rain, snow and only a shifter cable replaced so far.

Ours fit our leggy short bodied selves well. She's 5'1, I'm 5'9, but we have similar geometry. Fit's personal, so a test ride of several brands are in order, being a road bike lasts a long long long time so even if one costs a wee bit more than another buying for fit is worth it.
