I have found a really cute tri top and matching shorts on sierra trading post for a pretty good price, however, I don't want to wear something that is a two piece and be disappointed (I have a long torso and Venus de Milo curves!)

What is the prefered wearage for a tri event? I was wondering if people prefer one piece suits or two pieces? Why wouldne be better than the other?

I like two pieces because I am long-torso'd enough that a one piece would be tough.

I like choosing a top that is supportive and fits well, and pairing it with shorts that have a chamois I like and fit well. With my Venus de Velo curves, that means a medium top and a large bottom.

Plus, there's the Porta-Pottie Fandango... Yes, you're supposed to pee while you're swimming, but over the course of the tri pressure does build and by the end of the run those lovely green-cubical gems are a welcome sight!

I have a long torso. I bought a 1 piece tri suit and it was... WRONG! Between the padding in the crotch, the seam up the crotch and it pulling up due to my long torso, I ended up with SUPER-CAMEL TOE. Obscene.

So, I have 2 piece racing suits. I have a tri top that goes down to my hips and some nice tri shorts. I can wear it from the swim, bike to run.

Here is what I have:

VERY cute outfit!!!! I like it a lot! I always like a two piece more than a one piece. Bathroom emergencies happen and I might need to get out of my shorts pronto..

My motto is- if you think I look fat then look away. I plan on racing in a shorter bra-type top at a tri in August (I usually wear a long top). Sure, I have a gut that will kinda roll a little over the tri shorts and a few jiggles in the mid-section but who cares. It's not obscene and it's usually near 100 degrees on race day each year and I don't want to be burning up this year. To heck with the body-police. :)

The top looks like it's a bit on the short side. If so, you may get some gappage between the top and the shorts.

I agree. That top is going to hit a bit under your boobs and on the rib cage.

IF you don't mind your middrift showing... then go for it.

I know for me, I hate not having my tummy covered. That's just me. Thus, the tri top I have goes down to my hips.

I have the Zoot Trifit top (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=24715) (but cheaper here (http://www.sportsbasement.com/jump.jsp?iShadCat=1744&itemID=10351&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=1760&iSubCat=2446&iProductID=10351))

and the Zoot Trifit 6" shorts (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=24797) (also cheaper here (http://www.sportsbasement.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=10354&itemType=PRODUCT&iProductID=10354))

I'm pretty happy with both.

I second the Zoot clothing. I have a one piece that I've worn in sprints and a 2 piece set that I've worn for olympic length races. The nice thing about the Zoot tops is that they have a built in bra that's supportive enough for my B+'s.

The outfit that you've picked out is cute, but I'd be worried that the top would be seethrough with the light color after it is wet.

I wore a white top and it was obscene! The lake was muddy and the mud got trapped around certain bumpy areas on my chest......:o

I never would've thought about that- I'm glad you mentioned it (but sorry you had to experience it firsthand;) ).

Alannis Morissette (sp) made a parody of that song/video. It was beautiful...

lol!!!! well, not all the time....but especially when I'm in wet clothes and a light breeze hits me like that created when riding my bike at 20 mph. :p

Mr. asked me why there were bleeding when I was done.

Heh. When you said that the firs time, I had this mental image of severe, massive hives all over your chest, like having several breasts instead of just two. Kinda creeps you out if you think about it too hard.

Ok here's a visual image. I'm number 84 on the right. I'm wearing a short sugoi top and pearl izumi tri shorts. The gal on the left is wearing a TYR outfit. The sugoi top is great except for being see through and catching mud. See how the TYR top has black in the "important" places. Ewww...my tummy was poking out! :(
