The President of our club The Massapequa Park Bike Club & myself were interviewed yesterday about tomorrows Ride of Silence. This is great publicity for Long Island because it is so NOT cyclist friendly. My club never heard of it before until I brought it up and until reading about it here on TE last year, I had never heard of it.

There is a pic of me, but it does not show up on the electronic version of the article.

Very cool! I hope you get a great turn-out tomorrow. We're doing one here in Baton Rouge next year.

The Seattle one ought to be pretty big. I will be there.

I think ours is going to get rained (stormed) out :(

I am sweating this out as they are predicted here also.

Since the article people have been e-mailing asking if they can join in the ride as they thought it might be only for the bike club. As you all know it is for anyone interested so this will be interesting to see what kind of turnout we have. With the other two bike clubs joining us, this has blossomed so much larger than I ever imagined.

I will add that because my contact info was on the ROS website, this enabled people to get in touch with me with their questions.

Thank you Silver!!! I hope your ride goes well also.

I am just bringing my PI Whisper jacket. I do not ride in the rain unless it comes in during my ride. Needless to say, if riders are ready to ride no matter what, so am I.

I am just hoping for the 1 hour window that we need for the ride, it will be clear. The thunder showers are suppose to be scattered so one will never know, we might get lucky.

Welp, our press hasn't called me even though our guy said he was doing a press release. I am being all nervous because our weather is a little windy but basically really nice. We have never had one before; last year I suggested it and a few of us went out but there were tornado sirens going off so we sought shelter instead.
Since then there have been too many reasons for more people to come out :(
The most infamous was our fourth-ticket ringtone-downloader who killed Matt Wilhelm, but there have been others including an assault last week.
So of course now that it's the day of it, I'm thinking "we decided to start in the Assembly Hall Parking Lot because that's where we meet for occasional show-and-gos, but if there are a lot of people will the U. decide to give everybody tickets?" (Not those of us on bikes, of course...) And waht if people crash - I have a feeling there will be novice riders ... and what if that lady who emailed me about it comes and (as usual for her) isn't wearing a helmet? And what if "they" expect me to like, say something before the ride because people think I know a lot which I really don't about riding in groups? And.. Andd....
Okay, I've had *my* turn at airing out my angst, thank you!!! ;) Now I'm going to type up words to say just so they're in my head. (THey have to go into my fingers to get into my head. It's a writer's thing.)

OH~! but I am wearing like safety-reflector stuff (tho' I am hoping I have time to go back for my hi-viz camelbak) on the grounds that I *have* been confused for a cop before (by a little kid) and that that stuff makes drivers think this is An Event and SOmething Special.

I'm wearing my Share the Road jersey. It's a little coolish so I might put on arm warmers.

I'll put my light on the bike even though we are starting early.

i think the storm that y'all are looking at came through here last night. I think that we will dodge the bad weather tonight.

I am riding my old bike just in case the weather does get bad. Somehow it seems more fitting since that's the one I was riding when Sam was killed.

Since it's livestrong day too, I'd recommend wearing any yellow jersey for visability and for cancer awareness.

here's me in the jersey:
