Greetings all! It's been a while since I was here... last year, due to my mom's severe health issues, I was mostly OFF the bike... it's hard to come on here for me when I'm not able to ride... I needed to be able to focus on mom without missing it any worse ya know?
Anyway, I'm riding again and beginning to get my fitness level back... that being said, I am riding the 72 miler at the TofSD this weekend with my brother and some of his friends...
Anyone else gonna come climb this monster?

Lived here all my life, didn't hear about the Tour of San Diego, what is the route? I'm doing the Cycle EastLake on Sunday, which is in Chula Vista, that's always a fun ride.

anyway, you can check this out maybe for next year...have a fun ride and be safe! :)

different than Tour De North County??
It's been so many years ago... I heard that Tour De North County changed its route and last I heard it was just down the coast...
the route it mentioned on the web site sounds different but I do recall riding on a fun ride up black mtn road?? onto Lake Hodges from Del Mar area??? The scene was beautiful but the road to Lake Hodges was bit scary... Now that there is the highway maybe the local road wont be so heavly travelled.
Poway grade is always fun... Sounds like you know the drill SPF 100 and plenty of water. :D

smilingcat... I called it by the wrong name! DOH! it was the San Diego Century Bike Ride... sorry...
anyway, this was the inaugral ride... it was a good route... plenty of elevation gain but mostly gradual... so nothing that wasn't do-able...especially now that I've gone to a compact crank finally! :D
the weather was perfect... cool and overcast... the ride thru the Elfin Forest was awesome... the road was canopied with trees... we also climbed Del Dios Hwy, which was much easier than I'd imagined... I haven't lived up there in a while and remembered it much steeper and longer than it is... but I was a kid back then and didn't ride... weird how much your perspective changes!
I'm GLAD I didn't do the century... it had 7000ft climbing! :D Next year... ;) Only thing that went wrong was that about 5 miles in my bro hollered that he'd forgotten his water bottles... but I had 2 big ones, so I handed one over and we made sure to utilize every SAG... since it was cool, it worked out just fine...we got lucky! :D
hope you both had good weekend rides too!
