Today was a big day for me. I overcame an irrational fear that just cropped up this spring. I rode in heavy traffic for the first time since last summer. I am not sure why this fear appeared out of the blue. I am just so happy to have pushed through it.

I ride alone and this forum is my only riding outlet, so I felt that someone else may have had something similar happen to them and could possibly appreciate the soaring victory I felt inside.

Now if I could just get my average up...

Congratulations! I have yet to ride in heavy traffic...and the thought of it scares me to death! Sounds like a HUGE victory to me!

Today was the first time I wasn't absolutely mortified while riding on the road. We don't have much traffic around here, but the narrow winding roads make it really scary to have cars around. I can relate to your feeling of accomplishment.

Good for you!!!! :D

Congrats on overcoming that fear. I'm lucky in that I have lots of countryside to ride through, but have to ride through town to get to it.

You are right to be pleased.

Riding on the road with heavy traffic scares me because of the fear of having to stop abruptly.

I am not very comfortable clipping in and out of my pedals yet so one of my biggest fears is having to ride at an intersection.

I would not want to be riding clipless in traffic. What's your distance between intersections?

Good for you! I don't think it's an irrational fear, it seems like a logical fear to me. I used to ride in traffic and I've found that since I stopped, those fear demons are cropping up in my head :o

Anyway, that is a huge milestone and congrats!!!!
