Hello all..
I have not written in a VERY, VERY long time. Just so much going on! The Hotter N Hell in Whichita Falls, Texas will be here before we know it. Just sending a note to see if KSH is doing it this year and seeing if there are crazy others that might want to join in this time around. Last year the temp. was 106! I guess the name says it all.
I have still been dealing with crazy drivers, people stopping their vehicle and actaully trying to get me to stop and talk to them, and whatever else that we encounter on the road!
Maybe I will hear from some crazy cyclists that want to try or ride again in the Hotter...Safe pedaling....

As it gets closer we should keep in touch. KSH (another TE person) rode it with me last year. We had a great time! Hopefully, we can get a small group together to ride it. Last year, there were over 11,000 riders! It was awesome! Talk to you soon...Heidi

Seriously thinking about it. I'll know for sure around the beginning of June.
I just started seriously hitting the rode again after 2 years of taking it pretty easy, so I've got some work to do before I'm ready for this one.
Did my first ride of the season that was over 25 miles this morning (40-ish miles) and it was a bit painful near the end, but I managed, and with my indoor trainer coming in Monday I should be able to kick it into high gear and be ready.

Good for you! I have such a feeling of freedom when I am on my bike...Like others, there are days that I have to just touch the seat as it sits in my kitchen! LOL..My bike seems to be such a huge part of my life...I don't know what made me take so long to actually get into riding..Now, I am addicted!
KSH and I learned from last year, that it was hard to get the hundred in when you are at the start, walking your bike to a spot where you can get on and actually ride, because of the masses of people. I know folks that don't ride out with the starting group. They go up a little bit, so that they are not stuck in the middle...
I personally enjoy all that...!
Just to let you all know, you might get a hotel as soon as you know and make sure that you do not have a min. of 2 nights...KSH went through an ordeal over that last year...

I plan on riding the HnH100 this year. It will be my first time. My bike friends have ridden it and they say it's a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to it. Don't know if I'll try the full 100 or not...depends on how hot it is.
Hey Heidi! Good to hear from you again!
Happy to hear things are good with you!
Yea, I have debated going to ride or not. I can't see myself getting a hotel room again, and if I don't get a hotel room... I can't go. Driving 2.5 hours there, riding 75-100 miles and then driving 2.5 hours home... wouldn't be a wise decision.
So... I would love to do it... and take on the challenge again... but it's very iffy at this point.
I also wonder if I will be ready for it in time. This year I have really been focused on my triathlon stuff... so I kind of training geared towards my upcoming races. I don't know if I can get the long rides in that I need before the ride.
We did have a great time though and you totally saved my butt the last half of the ride. That headwind was brutal and without you, we would have been going so much slower!

Hello Karen!
Sorry, it has been crazy with work and parenting in general! I haven't ridden much in the last 2 weeks, but have been on the treadmill more...I have heard that all the hotels are gone already, but I haven't looked into it yet. I would like to ride the hundred, but it would be fun just to ride in it again..I will look for rooms and let you know what I find. I would like to ride it, but I certainly am not as strong as I was last year ....Maybe we can suffer together again? :) I will keep you posted...AND whoever else wants to suffer along with us....:D

KSH, myself and your group should ride together...Have you gotten rooms yet? How far are you from HHH? Last year it was 106, but well worth the challenge! Keep in touch...

Not as strong as you were last year? Good! Then I can keep up with you! :p
Yea, we will see what works out. Sometimes in my cycling club people have rooms they need to pass on, etc.

That would be good....I am not having any luck yet finding rooms in Wichita Falls...I might have to stay in Vernon again, like last time...I should have known beter then wait this long to get a room! Lesson learned! Keep in touch...
By the way, who was dying on the side of the road a few miles from the finish line and you were goating me on? :) Maybe we helped both out ....:)

Heidi, I did a lot of leg work trying to find a hotel and I saved all the info. I'll forward you the availability I came across two days ago. It's pretty sparse inside the city limits.
Check your PMs. :)

Hello fellow Hotter N Hell crazy ones! I have finally registered myself and broke down and got a room in Vernon. It is a ways off, but it was an easy search! I look forward to riding it again this year..It was so awesome last year...Anyone that is riding, should we all meet and ride some miles together, or all? :) Just an idea...I don't have anyone to ride with at this time. Some people that I rode with in a group are going, but their avergage speed is about 17 mph for 40 miles. I know that I can not go that fast for longer then 40 miles....soooooo...looking for a fun ride....nothing too fast! :)
KSH? Are you in? Hopefully, you can ride again!

If you want to pass me the info on Vernon I might get a room there. How far away is it again? Wasn't it like 30 minutes? Not too sure on that one. Hhhuuummmm.

Hey there Karen..I looked into a few prices there in Wichita Falls and they are price gauging (spelling?) so much! It is worth it for me to go to Vernon and pay 75 a night..then to pay 170 a night with a 2 night min! So, here is where I am staying. Days Inn, hwy 287 west @ Bentley. 940-552-9982...I am going to stay Friday and Saturday night. I am not sure if Lance will be in or not with his work schedule. If he isn't, I will have the room to myself..Bring on the dancers! LOL It looks like it is about 40 miles to the hotel. Could make it in 30 minutes or so....Still worth the miles compared to the price in WF.
Now, I just need to get back on my bike! Been 2 weeks! uhgggg! Talk to you soon and whoever else wants to meet for the ride!

Hey! What about this... Bowie? It's about 30 miles south of Wichita Falls. Closer and it's on my way from Denton.
We could share a room, and I found a Days Inn for around $45. Although, I didn't confirm the price. I'll also send you a PM about this.
Now, if Lance or Jonny decides to go...we will need another room, so maybe we can each reserve a room?

I signed up for the HnH today! No hotel rooms available so we will be staying at the Y. That's part of the whole experience IMO. I'll be sure to take some ear plugs. Do you all know your bib numbers? It would probably be unlikely that I could find you among 10,000 riders ...but who knows.

HELLO!
Well, I have bowed out of the ride. I have some big things to pay for in August and I couldn't justify spending $300 for the weekend.
With that said, Heidi might need a buddy to ride with. She's WONDERFUL to ride with. I'm really disappointed I won't be making it this year. Last year, she and I actually found each other at the start and rode together the whole way.
So, if you want a riding buddy... hit her up vis IM!

I will be out there again this year. I thought I would be there alone when both a friend of mine and my brother confirmed last week that they will be joining me. Now my hotel room is looking a little small!
You are welcome to ride with us, but we will not be doing the mass start. We will probably start a block up from the start line....right after the racers. We will keep a quick pace the first 60 miles (stop maybe once to refill...aim for 3.5 hours) to Burkburnet. After that...we will coast and take our time.
If you are interested, let me know and we can arrange to meet up the night before at the Expo. Even if you don't want to ride together...I think it would be cool to actually meet someone from the forum! I lived in East Texas for a couple years before moving to Dallas...and would love to reminisce about the piney woods.
