For those of you who aren't familiar with Ghost bikes, here are some pictures from a memorial held by the Cincinnati Cycle Club for 2 members who were killed last summer by a drunk driver.

Oh wow, Kathi. How sad - but what a beautiful memorial.

did they use real bikes? and paint them?

are any TE'rs in those pictures?

Yes, the bikes are real. Here's a link, http://www.cincinnaticycleclub.org/, click on "forum" then go to the topic "In Loving Memory"

Members of the club, including me, donated money for the memorial. The blond woman (flanked by 2 other women) giving the speech in one picture and holding a bouquet of flowers in the other is a longtime friend and the fiancee of Terry Walker.

The only Cincy TEer I know of is TrekJeni and I don't know if she was there.

Unfortunately, I couldn't be there and I agree the CCC did a wonderful job of putting together this memorial.

We saw about SIX white ghost bikes garlanded with flowers, while walking around on various streets one day in Manhattan last year. Sad. NYC is particularly dangerous.

We put one up for a recumbent rider killed by a pickup. It was a good memorial, though it'd be even better if more of those driving by knew why it was there and were as affected by it as we were.

Wow. Those bike are in good shape! The ghost bikes that get put up around here tend to look like they may have been the one in the accident. Yours are a much more permanent looking memorial.

Terry and Amy were riding with a group called the Treadheads. One of the members of the group donated her bike. She doesn't ride it anymore.

The owner of the property donated the land for the permenant memorial. After a year the bikes will be given to another community in need of them.

Many people in the community donated time and their services to this memorial.

That is a very beautiful memorial. It was very kind of the land owner, I know alot of times that is big obstacle in placing ghost bikes.
