Hi all - I drove down to Richmond with SO and other local cyclists to meet KayTee & her DH yesterday (May 5). It was the day of the Cap2Cap Century (Richmond VA to Jamestown VA & back). My plan was to take my bike and ride around the park while everyone rode the century. I figured I would have plenty of time to rest and relax since I was only 10 days out from my hysterectomy.
Well....I got on the bike & felt wonderful. Figured I would ride part of the route with them & then turn around. The more I rode the better I felt - so....I decided to go as far as the Charles City Courthouse (25 miles out). I could either wait there for them and ride the 25 miles back later in the day, or sag back to the start. Hmmm....decisions, decisions.
I got to Charles City & felt even better so.....you guessed it.....I kept going! The weather was about 60 degrees, cloudy with rain in the forecast. On the return trip from Jamestown, about 15 miles out of Charles City, the rain started....and boy, did it RAIN!! KayTee & I were soaked, cold and miserable. :( We managed to make it back to Charles City where KayTee sweet-talked her DH into getting their van to sag us all back to the start. In the end I rode 75 miles!!!!
I had no idea I would manage that much riding but I did and I still feel great today - seems no ill effects at all. :D :D My doctor should be happy because he told me trying to ride 100 miles yesterday would have been a bit too much. So....I didn't.....thanks to the rain. hehehe.....
