Well, this confirmed roadie had some fun in the woods today.
MORE (http://www.more-mtb.org/)(Mid-Atlantic Off Road Enthusiasts) did a RLAG (Ride Like a Girl) ride at a MD state park called Rosaryville (http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/southern/rosaryville.html). DivingBiker came along with me. There were three groups - casual guys, casual gals, and moderate gals. I rode with the moderate gals.
Holy smokes. That was FUN!
Other than a TE-DC group ride on the C&O Canal - a flat dirt road, basically - I haven't been on my mountainbike in the woods since July, '05. Yes, I remember the date. And it was with my DH and his friend, both really fast, technical riders and the experiences were never that great.
Rosaryville was just technical enough to keep me interested, but not so hard as to be discouraging. Lots of swoopy singletrack and short rollers. A few stream crossings and only a few logs to jump.
Yeee-ha! I'd go back there again. Way cool!
