GGGRRRR!!! My fiance is sick. He took a sick day on Tuesday for the first time in like 10 years. Of course then began the waiting game, when am I going to get sick. Bloody 'ell. I took a couple hits of Zicam, taken a couple vitamins, drank water and tea... Now I'm starting to get a sore throat. It p***es me off, it's supposed to be GORGEOUS out this weekend. I'm hoping that I can at least nurse myself through a few rides. I've got my first multi-day tour coming up in a little over a month and I'm in need of many more miles yet.
What would you guys do? He seemed to have either a bad cold or a flu of some sort. I'm going to go and buy some orange juice, drink it and flush the system. Who knows what kind of shape I'll end up being in. Sometimes I don't get things quite as bad or for as long. We'll see.
Thanks for letting me vent.
I've heard very good results with the product Cold FX - has a lot of ginseng in it, I think.
Get lots of sleep, drink lots of fluids, don't let yourself get run down enough for the bug to really catch you, and keep your rides easy. If it does take hold, let it run its course.
That's this girl's advice!
Hugs and immune boosting butterflies,

Why not take a day & rest? Sit in the sun & think about how healthy you'll be the day after!
I was ill last week & rather annoyed i could not bike..Then again i had the flu, a bit of conjunctivitis & a possible doggie alergy. I drank as much rooibos tea & water as humanly possible.
I don't get sick very often & the time off the bike actually helped.
take care of yourself :) & as Douglas Adams once wrote "Don't Panic"

I just got back from the store to get grape juice (apparently it helps hit viruses even more than orange juice for instance). I took some theraflu, I got some fresh ginger, chamomille tea and some garlic tablets.
I love Douglas Adams. I need to read those books again. I've been taking it pretty easy the last two days. I haven't been able to bike or run. Work and other errands prevented me from it. Overall I feel okay right now, I just feel symptoms coming on. So it is rather early to panic, I suppose. If I do get some rides in, I'll take it easy and try not to stray too far from home in case I get zapped.
I've only got 211 outside miles, spin class time and a little running in. I'm just antsy about somethings. There never is a GOOD time to become ill, I guess.
Thanks for your well wishes and advice! :D I may not be whooped yet. We'll see.

My hubby and my son both had a tummy bug the other week. I didn't get it:D
For colds (if I can spell this right) Echinacaea is supposed to be very good. It helps you to get over the cold and also helps to build up your resistence to catching colds:)

Lots of times your resistance will fight the bug off while your close family/friends get sick. maybe you will be lucky. Don't worry about it so much!

LBTC - your are the best when it comes to dispensing butterflies! I never thanked you for your purple & green pain reducing (or was it hallucinogenic?) butterflies you sent me prior to my surgery on Wednesday!
I hope they work just as well for you, Hammer. It's so frustrating to miss a good weekend being laid-up. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

So far so good. I'm kinda tired now, but I did a 30 mile ride with a 17 mph head wind for the first 15. I needed to get a ride in. I've felt ok for today, maybe it was just a fluke this morning. But just in case I'm downing juices and water. It could've been the healing butterflies too. :D
Thank you all for your advice, we'll see what the weekend brings.
