Well, I evaluated the radar carefully and estimated that I had 1 hour before the storm hit. I was off by 55 minutes:eek:
2 miles in, the heavens opened! I could have quit, but I still did 20+ miles.
It was great! I was cold, wet, and DIRTY! I DON'T DO THIS KIND OF STUFF.
But, I feel great. I'm going to Coldstone Creamery to celebrate!
PS: I was VERY careful!

How cool (no pun intended)!
I tend to wimp out on weather, but I'm always glad when I get out there! Just make sure to give your bike a little tlc, while you're doing the same for yourself (don't think I'd be headed for ice cream - unless it were accompanied by warm apple pie - after a wet and cold ride, though:))

I had a ride like that on Saturday. We were at about mile 11 of a 32 mile ride, when the dark cloud came overhead. The winds started and then the rain started and then it was all we could do to get back to our respective cars. The ride was cut short (still 22 miles). I really thought I was back in Yellowstone for my fall ride last year. I was soooooo cold. I cranked the heat up in the car to 90 hoping to stop the shivering. But, it was still 22 miles:D

Prudence got the best of me....I went to Subway instead for a Turkey Sandwich with no sauces on it...

Did your brakes and rims get so wet that the brakes lost stopping power? That happened to me one time and it was SCARY, let me tell you!
Glad to hear you got wet and mucky and survived! :D

Ahem...I don't think I would have been that good:)
Kudos to you for sticking to your goal (I'd a been taking a "medicinal" very large mug of hot chocolate in all likelihood - it's like chocolate milk, right? A recovery drink?:D )

I'm gonna tell Silver about this Prudence woman.
P.S. She can't be so high class if she only took you to a lousy Subway's for lunch.

Yes, she was sitting on my right shoulder and looks like Glinda, the Good Witch.
What else do you expect from Mr. Silver, the "masher"????
Wow! Lisa turns 53 and gets this mischievious streak in her:p

I'm looking at Saturday's weather and the same thing might happen to me. Showers predicted all day. Hot chocolate does sound good after a chilling ride.
Milkshake.

That D@mn Prudence! I was going to pick up a pizza on the way back from my ride last night...I have been craving it for awhile. But after getting spit out the back of the pack Prudence told me to go home and have a turkey sandwhich....which I did.
That Prudence is a tough woman. I managed to ride 32 miles at an avg. speed of 16.2, but she still didn't cut me any slack. No slack till you can stay with the pack!
PS. Thanks Meg McKilty - I'm gonna have nightmares after seeing that........"thing."

A long time ago, when i rode a 3 speed with only 2 speeds, and my sons were both small (like 7 and 9 years old) the four of us went for a "BIG RIDE" 5 miles out and 5 miles back on the burk gilman trail. the heavens opened up on us and it poured. The kids had a great time, but we were all soaked to the skin. At the time we had a camper van, so my husband rode back ahead of us and got the van ready for our return. When we got back, we stripped the boys and put them in their extra clothes and we all had hot chocolate. What a fun memory!! Talk about baptism by fire. neither of them is phased by rain today.
and Mr Silver, it's about time for you. and what's with these icecream fantasies?
