HI
This is my first time on the site but I've enjoyed reading many of the threads for a while - so Hi girls.

I'm buying a new bike and boy oh boy the options. One decision I have to make is whether to go 650 or 700. 700 seems to be more popular in Australia but I've been reading slow twitch's report on the top bikes ridden by American women in Kona and 650 seems to have the lead.

I know 650's accelerate better and I currently ride 650s but I'm trying to now work out what's best for me. I just wana be FAST FAST FAST :) On the other hand I've heard 700s roll better and less pedal strokes mean you go faster??? - not sure about that one.

It would be god to be able to swap the new race wheels with my old 650 TT set up bike but eventually I'll prob update that to.

I mostly train with guys all on 700s - unfortunately there's not enough women riding in my area :(

Again a sunny hi from Oz.

:) Well, my roadie has 700's. I bought my road bike simply because I loved it and it felt fast. Nothing scientific there.

My tri bike has 650's. I bought my tri bike because they were closing out new Cervelo's for $500. It was bought over the internet and I never test rode it... nothing scientific there.

In the end... I truly believe that a 650/700 wheel isn't going to make a huge difference... the engine running the bike does.

I ride a very nice road bike (Specialized Tarmac Expert- full carbon/full Ultegra)... but people on less expensive bikes fly by me all day long.

I say go for the bike that fits you the best and you love to ride... and whatever wheel comes on it... go for it. :)
