It was warm enough today that I could wear my favorite jacket, a gift from friends. As I pulled it on and rode off to work I was thinking about the many special friends I've got here on TE, rides we've done, conversations we've had. Pleasant thoughts and I'm really thankful for all of you. It's really cool to think how TE has brought us together. Have a tremendously terrific Thursday!

Ditto to all you've said, plus birthday wishes to Mr. Thom. What kind of goodies are you baking him?

He's so not into celebrating his birthday. I did make sure he got his cookie in his lunch this morning. He forgot it on the counter. I'm hoping he'll leave work early. Maybe I'll talk him into going out for sushi.

Yes, please. Send some of them crawdad critters in some yummy etoufee.

PS - Would one of my friends please tell me why I grew up calling them crawdads? From what region did this colloquialism spring? Who calls them crayfish? Deep things to ponder tonight.

I like this forum as i've come to the conclusion that not all americans are bad!

I appreciate the time and effort you all put into some of the posts!

Most of all I enjoy being surrounded by nuts.

Friends! yes! And one day I'll even meet some of you in person....KG, P, you know who you are....and if I'm really lucky a few in far far away places. Knowing you are there makes me oh so much more interested in travelling there - someone to say hello to! yay!

Seriously, at times you all are a pleasant distractions, and sometimes you are my lifeline when I feel lost. THANK YOU

Hugs and butterflies (and crawfish for those of you who like it)

Sadie,
I grew up saying "crawdads". My parents were from the south....

Thankyou ladies for your friendship and advise. What a great group of amazing people!

Ah ha! My father's family goes back in Texas pre-statehood. So the crawdads are their fault.

In Louisiana - they're called crawfish. Up north, we called them crayfish. But then again - we didn't eat them either.

Etoufee is essentially crawfish tails smothered in butter (lots of butter), onions and seasoning. The crawfish "fat" makes it creamy. Very yummy stuff!

And that's a no on the crawfish sushi. Way way way no.

Our crayfish up north here are so big we call them LOBSTER! ;) They are somewhat pricey however, so most of the time I'll "settle" for sashimi. ;)

Thank you so much, canuck! We really aren't so bad (most of us, anyway!). And definitely nutty.

I don't suppose you could find a Cajun in your family tree who could make you some etoufee someday? :D Shipping to Oz might be expensive so maybe you would have to travel over here, tho....then we crazy Americans could meet you!

I grew up calling 'em crawdads AND crayfish... hmm. No sutherner in me, though... everyone in my famdamily is from WI... hmm... The plot thickens.

I'd like to chime in a "hear, hear!" on this forum. I have found friends, sisters, and someone very special through TE. I am ever in awe of the great things that can be achieved by bringing women together.
