Do you wanna race?

What do you do when another cyclist hollers, "Do you wanna race?" I'm dense! I didn't know if he was kidding or serious. After saying, "No, thank you," with a smile I decided he had to be kidding and I felt stupid and couldn't think what I could have said except maybe a friendly hello. :o

Hmm I dunno. I had a guy in a car offer to race me when we were stuck in traffic. I said I could make it through the crowded street faster than him. And I was right. I made it through all the next lights on green while the cars were jammed up.

It depends sometimes I say no but the decide to go for it anyway as they start to pass. Normally though I'd tell them "your on" and try my best. If I get beat oh, well. If I win cool! Its all about the workout I would get for the few minuets. Besides unless he is unusally slow for a guy or on 30 pound bike its not a slam to get beat by a guy, especailly if he is on a really nice bike.
