Anyone else find Armstrong's behavior wrt Simeoni a bit immature?

I dunno ... that whole business just seems ridiculous. Lance called Simeoni a liar even though there's no way for him to know whether or not Ferrari ever said what Simeoni said he did ... so that's dumb. Then Simeoni sues, which seems like quite the overkill. And now Armstrong takes this lawsuit, which doesn't affect his ability to race at all, and uses it as an excuse to bully Simeoni during the race ...

Beh. I know no one's perfect, but this is really childish.

Yeah, I have to agree with you...

and what about the comments made by Greg Lemond?? I am beginning to feel like I am back in high school. What exactly is Greg looking for...and his wife too for that matter??

Lemond said something to the effect of..."Well, everyone says that Armstrong is doping so it must be true..." or something along those lines. I found that to be pure slander and made Lemond and his wife, (who also had a lot to say), look very bad. I am not a big Lance fan, but with comments like that from Lemond I would quit riding before I ever rode one of his bikes...there!! Now I have become one of them also!!!:eek:

High school and Pro Sports

One thing to remember...as much as I love cycling...it's really no different from *other* pro sports in that many of the competitors are lucky to barely eke out a HS education. Can we say "arrested development"? Many of these boy-men, as lovely as they may be, are pretty much at the emotional/intellectual level of your average US HS senior. Should we be surprised at their behavior? They are really no different than your NFL or NBA players.

Ok Ladies, here is the amazing little non-factoid that should make your day. A random (google) search for women's pro bios shows that many pro (US at least...other countries???) female cyclists have education and careers outside of cycling, in fact many have advanced degrees. When will the men catch up with us ???

This is a bit off-topic, but when I was in the navy, I noticed the same thing was generally true of enlisted men and women. Most of the men I knew had joined, right after high school, because they couldn't/wouldn't do anything else, whereas the women had primarily joined for some excitement and travel, often after already completing a year or two of college.

Does this suggest a trend among young Americans? I don't know--I just thought the parallel was interesting.

Could this education-gap have anything to do with the fact that there is also generally a PAY-gap when it comes to women's sports?

Female athletes don't seem to be able to support themselves on what they earn, so they naturally have to have an education and a "real" job!!:D
