This is my first post, so bare with me! I'll be on vacation in San Francisco next month and I would like to check out some cycling shops. I'm mainly interested in women's apparel since my local selection is really lame! I would appreciate any advice!

There is a shop owned by women called (I think) Left Coast Cycles in Oakland/Berkeley. It's small, but very cool. I've only visited twice, but one of the Bay Area babes will post more info I'm sure.

Sports Basement at Crissy Field in the Presidio has a pretty good selection of womens cycling stuff. Their inventory varies a lot, though.

I think Bicycle Odyssey on Bridgeway in Sausalito has a good selection of women's stuff - especially good higher end shorts, which can be hard to find. (No Assos though).

I dunno if you wanna come all the way down here but Bicycle Outfitters in Los Altos has a decent selection.

Why not combine these two? Start at Sports Basement, ride across the Golden Gate to Sausalito ride back or take the Ferry to the Ferry Building on Embarcadero?

Or save your vacation time for riding and just shop on TE?

The why not has gotta be the climb from Sausolito back up to the bridge  , but since there is a ferry option ...

But if you take the ferry you have to ride all the way across San Francisco. I'd rather ride Sausalito hill than deal with driving all the way across the city. I do think Sports Basement is worth a visit. It's huge and fun.

Well I would not say all the way across   various routes to choose from and depends on where you are staying.

You might go along the Embarcadero then through the Presidio which is pretty rideable  From Sports Basement it's easy to get up to GG Bridge then to Sausalito.

Shop, eat, oogle the views of the Bay then choose either take the ferry back or climb back to GG bridge (very doable and great view of the Bay if you walk it).

Sounds like a good ride to me.
