View Full Version : Hmm, Cycle Shorts...

Just came back from a run with the bikes (about 5 miles). Tried out my new cycling shorts under my tracksuit bottoms as it was a bit chilly today. The shorts I've got have a Coolmax pad in them and I found it very uncomfortable. Fine keeping the saddle from chaffing the tops of my legs, but seemed to bunch up and irritate my girly bits. I was actually more comfortable without the cycle shorts the other day.

Anyone else have this problem and what's the solution (apart from don't wear them again)?

I'm presuming you were riding, not running (I'll let the tri gals address those issues - I haven't gone there yet) -

What brand shorts? How do they fit? They should be very snug. Sounds like they may be too large if they're bunching up? Could be that the outer layer was re-arranging them? I think most of us have had shorts bunch up and rub unpleasantly (I know I have) - they were too big, and I need a more "sculpted" chamois. Current preference = Shebeest SSS Shorts (but I know there are a few that those shorts just don't work for). So - it's all personal preference and, expensively, trial and error. Don't give up on bike shorts just because those didn't work well for you!

They're called Bicycle-Line (I'm in the UK). They are a small size but I think I probably could go down to extra small as I am very small. I have difficulty in getting clothes small enough to fit and often have to buy children's clothes. I also thought the Coolmax material was on the rough side. Are there any alternative materials on the market and would TE ship from America to the UK do you know?

Hmmm...not sure about Coolmax. Most of the ones I have purchased just say it's the "XYZ Chamois" and then describe how it fits. I would bet that the size is the problem, though. I had some Terry shorts that stretched out, and they KILLED me on a couple of rides before I figured out the problem.

It does look like TE will ship to the UK. They have international shipping rates listed and say they will ship to the US, UK and a couple of other places without additional identity verification.

Enjoy!
