I'm craving fats and salt like there's no tomorrow!
Here's my sitch... I'm a diabetic, type II, but not on meds. I control my insulin through a low glycemic diet and exercise. I log a few hundred miles a week on the bike. I eat every few hours - I'm very meticulous about getting enough calories and hydrating every :30 mins when I ride.
On the days I train, I have no cravings whatsoever. But once I'm back in the office (my day job), all I want to do is binge on nuts like almonds with liquid braggs and cashews and pecans. I can consume a few hundred grams of fat in one sitting. Maybe my body is freaking out because i'm losing so much fat during my rides and is making up for it? I don't know but any insight would be greatly appreciated...
Also, how to avoid giving into these cravings... I have protein recovery drinks, Stallone's pudding... all kinds of snacks to try to get me over these nut cravings in the office, but they only work for so long ... I'd remove the nuts from the building, but the CEO loves having them around... they're in every room... it's kind of absurd...
I'm also confused on the Atkins perspective of fat loss. When I eat all these nuts, I can see the results the next day. Obviously. But some say you can eat as much fat as you want and still lose weight so long as you stay low carb ... But that's not my experience... Am I sabotaging my fat loss goals by eating all the fat? I'd think yes in such high amounts but some fat is critical in order to lose fat... so confused...
Thanks for your time!
