How about Q-Tip?

On a more serious note or naming how about Spirit or Giggles?

Congrats on your new addition may you guys have many, many happy years together.

Congrats on the new Westie. I grew up with two of them: Bonnie was one and the other was named Fitz/Fitzie (Fitzpatrick MacDougal was his AKC name). As you already know, they're very loving dogs with HUGE personalities. I have a friend with two Westies named Lizzie and Franny. I like both of those names for a Westie.

BTW, my dream dog is a female Scottie that I plan to name Stella (don't ask me why).

As a ex-dog trainer I know from experience - try and find a short easy name for your dog. There is a funny commercial on TV right now where the man comes in and calls this long abnoxious name out for his dog and the dog of course does not answer. Try to keep it no longer than 2 syllables or make sure you have a good nick name (which will become the dogs name anyway so just go there).

I have a friend who named his dog something like SirHighland of WestPort and it's now down to "Meat Tube" or "Meat" for short (yes it is a weiner dog). Keep it simple...

For Westies I do like Molly... something that sounds Scottish like maybe Kirsty, Aila, Artis, Netta, Torra or Skena.

DH thought of Soleil (say it so-lay), which means sun. Very bright, very cheerful, and fits with your nick, hellosunshine, don't you think?

Congrats on your decision to save this little dog. She will be a very loyal friend.

We have a beautiful Westie female. Our second. First Westie was handed down through 4 previous owners before we got her at 9 years old. (The last threatening to have her put down because she didn't always remember to stay off the lawn, and do her business in the allowed area of the yard.) She had a few little quirks, which didn't really bother us. I couldn't use a broom near her and if she heard the ironing board being moved or erected, she would attack its legs. I became quite an expert on ironing board manoeuvres. She became an extremely loyal, loving, beautiful family member and we were devastated when she suddenly died (natural causes) at 13 years.

Our current Westie is very spoiled. She sleeps on the bed, tells us when she wants to go for a walk, and often where. One day she refused to walk home as the person we usually visit wasn't home when we arrived. She sat down and refused to leave. I had to carry her 1km. 8kgs gets heavy after a while.

Enjoy your new little pooch. So happy for you.

If your new little friend develops any skin irritation (ours is allergic to fleas and just one bite will set off a chain reaction of scratching, rubbing on furniture and chewing, sometimes causing raw spots), we have found that weekly or fortnightly bathing with a herbal dog soap (www.greenleafnatural.com), followed by 1/4 cup of lemon juice in the warm rinse water has prevented a repeat of the condition. I suspect the lemon juice does something to the ph balance of the skin and limits bacterial buildup. She smells great. Worth a try.

I really like the name Madison. Everyone I've dated has always said they don't like the name, so I thought if I got a female dog I'd use the name. :D

Someone around here recently got a pup and named her Cadence. They call her Cady (sounds like Katie but with a D, not a T) for short. I thought that was a cute name.

First of all I applaud you at saving a life and making it better, she is on the road to recovery:D . And actually, her personality sounds ALOT like mine!
However, my Uncle had a Westie he also adopted and she had a rough beginning but turned into an absolute love, he named her "Keltie". I always loved that name and would have named our dog that but my DH is a good ole' boy from the south so he ended up with the name Roscoe....if anyone remembers from the Dukes of Hazard....Roscoe P Coltrane.....:p
